well the tescos bikes stripped out and the frame taken to the council skip, with another black frame, on the back of my white folding bike. I used the twist grips on my woods bike. As it came with 6 speed block. but swing arm don't like that. chain rubbing the er seat stay in top. So I put a 5 speed block on it. Its good now. been jetting about on it. Wanting the woods bike gone. Ive built up the alloy hybrid bike. I used the seat, pin, clamp, left twist grip and front mech off the XC26s I got recently. I cleaned up the chain and mechs. had the rear mech to bits. the jockey wheels are in good condition. the bushes arent worn. but when I put it together. the jockey wheels wont move. I put grease inside them. Its a megarange mech. but wheels are same size. not hitting the cage. I loosened off the bolts. and went for a few laps of the carpark. One of the wheels escaped. It still peddled tho. when I got to my door. the bolt fell out. I looked around the carpark. found the jockey wheel, bush and one of the dust caps, beside a Copen. had another look this morning. cant see the other dust cap. I went upto the scrap yard today. was looking for the forks for the panache mixte. I had found them another time. but forgot to bring them out. I got the forks. I found a pair of Marzochi Bomber dirt jumper 111 forks. I seen a gold and silver bmx frame. Its an alloy Magna. So nothing too great. I got it and a couple of wheels. 17kg so £5 As with any alloy frame Ive got. I would like to polish it up. Partly cause shiny is better. Also. It says Magna on it. :/ I seen an old school saracen tuff trax near the front of the yard. alloy thumb shifters and nice cranks. I would have had that out too. but a big heavy thing nearly fell on me when I was struggling with it.

The magna bmx. it didnt have a seat pin. thought it would be 25.4mm As thats a common size. Ive got a couple spare. Its not. 26.3mm So I got one on ebay. cost more than the bike. :/ I had seen for months a gents bike abandoned at the bike rack beside weatherspoons. It got its wheels kicked in. cheap bike with a steel and alloy wheels. this week it had been set free from its shackles. then was parked right beside the pub. next time I seen it. It was near the supermarket. I got my bag of tools and bin bags. to take it home on the bus. But I couldnt find it. I went down to the beach. As had seen a y frame there. I wanted the shock off it. But there was a girls mtb there. Its been kicked to death too. looks like its been on the beach for a while. So I picked it up and carried it to the bus station. As there was only 10 minutes to bus. And the spokes and wobbly rims kept jamming the wheels. I stripped the wheels off. Bagged them up. same with the frame. I was standing at the station at the stance I ussually get the bus. Another bus left at the time my bus was supposed to. Wait a minute. Its the evening and that bus number goes round my way. instead of tanking straight past on the main road. I was intoxicated off. I went to the nearby train station. but it was 30 minutes to train. I had a return bus ticket anyway. so might as well wait another hour till the bus. I went to the pub beside the train station. I took the bike, still bagged up. Into the pub. No...it didnt get well oiled. I'll strip out the girls bike for bits. Ive built up my Panache mixte. I tried a 20" rear wheel. but very low. I suppose thats what happens when your chopping one of these. I thought I had a 24" rear wheel. so got a small looking wheel. fitted it. Its tight in there. Only small looking cause its a 175 tyre. not a 2" one. Ive looked on ebay for 26X1.5 or thinner tyres. for on mtb 559 rims. nothing in my price range. I would like some big mtb suspension forks. but the headstock of the frame is quite long. Its a 1" steerer tube it needs. so wont fit aheadset forks.

I was up at another town. I was going to cross the road to the library. very busy high street. When someone said, "Hi Alec". It was Jim. A freind that I hadnt seen for about 5 years. I didnt know he lived there. We went back to his. he said he had some bikes to show me. So went out to his shed. creaked open the door. 2 Velosolex mopeds and a modern Schwinn stingray. Oh man. One velosolex was old and rusty. but the other he uses. I'm after a moped. Since theres a few Tomos and Maxis on here. I think the Velosolex is a bit basic tho. engine on the forks must surely mean strange handling. 15mph is about top speed. He has a car too. He used to have an old Granada Coupe. A bit like Reagans car on the sweeney. So I was expecting a big powerful car. We went out front. a big bmw. his vehicle was in front of that. A Reliant Kitten. Think Dellboy with 4 wheels. passenger seat was stuck forward. so I was heading the visor all the time. we seen 40mph on the open road. think Ive went faster on my pushbike on that road. He took me back to my place. I said we could turn off the main street. to avoid the road works and traffic. He couldnt. As the right tail lights and indicator didnt work after going a bumpy road. He had seen the car abandoned in town, with police aware stickers on it. He had left a note on it. then when the scrapies lifted it. He got it for £275. I have the issue of PPC where theres the Kittens up at a track. Cossie and Honda bike powered ones. I forgot to give him the mag. I think his Velosolex engine would be better than the 850.

I did some work on the magna BMX. It needed a seatpin. I measured it with the digital verniers at 26.3mm. I looked to see what sizes are available. 26.2 and 26.4mm. I got 26.2. which rattles in there. :/ but I greased up the seat clamp and tightened it up too much. seems to work. I meddled with the brakes a lot. Its lower gyro cables got an outer casing thats too short. The inners hanging out a lot. I was going to fit a longer outer. but the inners more than crusty. Its cut near thru. I fiddled with noodles. Lubed everthing up. Got it working. I was out testing it. heres it on the bmx grinding rail thing.

Ive been working on my alloy y frame. I'm wanting it decluttered. will run internal cables. I didnt have a drill. Ive fallen out with the centre I used to go to. I had donated my old drill to them. I got a drill from Cosmic Supply. even came in its plastic case with drills and chuck key. gearbox is a bit noisy. that'll be why it was dumped. do me for a while. I cut off the mudguard eyes from the swing arm. the 3 sets of cable loops on the alloy y bit. managed to get it filed down and sanded, so it looks like nothing was there. The alloy y didnt have many parts on it. I bought a seat pin and clamp from ebay. clamps new, 8.5 grammes. weighs nothing. didnt cost much either. I bid on a pair of 26 X 1.5 tyres, got them on ebay. they are for the Mixte. Paid a bit more than I wanted. Ive seen single tyres going for more than I paid tho. I got ready for going to town for the car boot sale. I strapped my bag onto white bikes carrier. pushed it outside. it felt squidgy. grrrr. front tyres soft. I had done some off roading the last day I was coming back from town. so maybes it got a thorn there. I had to cross a green frothy stream on 2 rotten planks. It didnt smell too great. just beside the sewage works. so thankfully, I didnt fall in. I put white bike away. pulled out the woods bike. Its running good just now. put my rucksak on my back. was annoyed at white bike always having punctures. Give me an excuse to swap the red Ken...da 2.2" tyres. for 1.5" swalbe black tyres. get more speed out of it.

I was going to bike along the track to town. that goes past the sewage works. but changed my mind. just went along the bike path beside the main road, as usual. I have a new wristwatch. from the pound shop. nothing fancy. I had given away the sekonda, I had been given recently. It had a shiny blue face. could hardly see the time on it. steel strap was too tight and fiddly to take off the watch. I got to the main road in 17 minutes. the road inland, the traverse I call it. It was easy, as no howling side wind. 15 gears on woods bike. so more chance of keeping the revs up. I thought. White bike had got from there to town in 11 minutes. tho there was a howling tail wind that day. White bike seen 21mph on that bike path. No speedo on woods bike tho. so just rev it and get there. Its got the cranks from Alloy y. think there 42 tooth big ring. so not that high geared. It did that stretch in 11 minutes too. so thats a 28 minute for 6.4miles. fastest yet. I

i went upto the car boot sales. got an E type for 50p. Pity it was in a feature in Classic cars mag. I was at the man with the big long tables. got some dvds, 4 sockets for£1. then noticed he had 3 bikes at the wall. 2 modern low end bmxs. And a Rossin racing bike. Shimano 600 and 105 brakes and gears. Campag hubs on Mavic gp4 rims. straight thru freewheel block. very clean. he wanted £20 for it. I walked away. then went back later. offered him £15. He say yes. I had the trouble of getting 2 bikes home. Also my rucksack was very heavy. And I had a bag of computer stuff. Ach no problem. My aunt lives 5 minutes walk away. She wasnt in. I have no ones phone numbers. I walked downtown. thinking, its a nice day for a few hours walk home. Then I remembered the train. I went upto the station. thinking the train would probably have just left when I get there. nope. the previous train was 3 hours before. next train was 2 and a half hours time. GRRRRR. So I went to weatherspoons and had a burger. read the car mag and watched some of the car racing. Heres my new bike at the seafront in Carnoustie.

theyve cleared out the scrap yard. I had seen a frame right up in the corner. so went for it today. theres about 3 piles of stuff, so looked thru it. I found this funky little kart thing. I wonder how much a welder would charge me to lengthen it by ten inches so I can fit on it. thats got rubber tyres with inner tubes on all wheels. Not like a Huffy green machine that has hard plastic rear wheels. I got the bike frame and a wheel. I think the frames an Apollo XC26s 17". I got it for the cranks and mechs. But might strip and polish the alloy frame. Any ideas where I can get cheap paint stripper? heres my white bike with the wheel and frame, also my rucksack. As I was about to bike home. did ten miles loaded up

I always like reading your bike-related adventures! The Rossin looks incredible, car boot sales are great for bike bits (got tons of vintage parts today for £5, Campagnolo Mafac etc all good stuff). I saw a Peugeot last week for £10 and wished I'd got it (it had the rare 24mm seatpost, itself worth more than the asking price according to ebay!)
I saw a gas pipe Raleigh today but the guy wanted £120 for it, then he said I could make a profit if I sold it on ebay. Swings and roundabouts.
You can get cheap paint stripper in Wilco, it's just as good as branded stuff. Slap it on, wrap it up in clingfilm and leave somewhere cool and dark for an hour so it doesn't dry out. Then scrub it off with wire wool.

I got another set of allen keys. cheap ones are just made of toffee. I wasnt putting that in the cinneli stem. Ive adjusted the bars to a better angle. rewrapped the tape, as the tops of the bars werent tapped. no evidence of tribars been on there. I took out the miche seat clamp bolt. seat pin is seized in. If 3in 1 oiled it a couple of times. I posted the Rossin pic on Bike forums, saved from the dump thread. they pulled my leg a bit. But said to use hot water on it. was out with the kettle this morning. No effect. I looked up Rossin. Apparently Mario Rossin used to work for Colnago. But left in the 1970s. His bikes are as good as Colnagos. He pioneered disc wheels and other stuff. I think my bike might be an early one, as its got metal gear cable guides on top of the bb. I put the wellgo platforms off my other xc26s frame. As I don't have look shoes. I'm on the look out for look shoes. also need new brake lever hoods for non aero levers. ones Ive seen are near the price of the bike. :/ Ive ordered a battery for the specialized computer. I don't know the code for that. anyone know? any websites that tell you? Ive got a computer manual for a lidls speedo. will try the number from that. Ive been trundling about on the rossin. trying to get used to it. and trying to stretch my legs to fit. as its a tiny bit too big. I did about 5 miles on it today

Theres a diy shop on my road. so I biked there on my hybrid. theyve got nitromors for £7 odd. I went along to the knickle and dime store. they had bartoline stripper for £5. Nitromors was cheaper than other shop. So I got Bartoline. Ive been working on my Raleigh Panache mixte. On friday the postie come with the tyres from ebay, at 4.30pm. I was still at the scrap yard in town. So got the tyres from the post office in my road on saturday morning. There 26x1.5" tyres. mtb 559 rims they go on. I fitted them to a pair of silver alloy wheels I got from dump a while ago. they miss the frame and fork. I had 1.95" tyres on there. rubbed the frame and fork. think its supposed to use 700c narrowish tyres. I removed the Bart simpson moon bars I had fitted. as they rubbed my legs when steering. I got ape bars from ebay. I fitted them in a chrome mtb stem, at minimum height in forks. I had a set of new bmx brakes. same as my white bike uses. I fitted it to forks, and to a bracket on er top tubes. they are long enough. tho the cables arent. might mess with vbrake noodle parts, to join 2 outers together. I fitted a thumb shifter that was on the hybrid. its a left hand friction shifter. I fitted it as high up the bars as the gear cable would allow. Ive been out on it. its ok. but the stem clamp bolt stripped its thread. so didnt ride about much. will upload the pic soon. I got a big chrome stappler at the car boot sale last week. I'm planning on using it to stapple a bit of a leather over foam, on a bit of wood. as a chopper seat. I don't have a suitable bit of wood yet tho. theres a joiner in the next street. might go scrounging.

Oh yeah. the garage beside the scrapyard had a nice Mk2 jag parked on the street. silver blue colour. I did take a pic. but the owner was coming. So I hurried and got a blurry pic. Some good cars in the garages on that street. usually a couple of Lancers and a GTR, maybes a fast ford too, at one garage.

Heres the mixte bike. Ive thought about the cables. the rear brake goes thru 2 bridges that span the top tube. so I could put cable adjusters in there. so I could run a shorter cable outer. still be quite long tho. so will have to get more outer casing

thanks for the link. I used to post on Atomic zombie. I don't have a workshop anymore. gave away my grinders and other stuff. so cant do much chopping. the mixte will get the seat stays chopped. just with hacksaw and files tho. I crashed my white bike on sunday. going along a path to town. front wheel hit soft sand. I tried to foot on the scrubby grass bank. but leg got pushed back. knee was sore for a bit. I was up at the gym today. with a gorgeous lady. was doing the rpm bike class. I was dying. but had to put a good look on it, to try to impress her. who am I trying to kid. :/ shes taking me to body combat next week. its ok. that sports centre is just round the corner from the infirmary. I popped upto the scrap yard today. it was raining and there yellow hats have less holes than my bike lid. theres more bike stuff in. a pile of wheels and a couple of frames at the front. I had seen a disc front wheel thru the fence. so went to get it. Its got an alloy hub on an eyeletted rim. it just looks cheep tho. well it was 33 new pence. I got a pair of 700c wheels. alloy deep rims. 24 bladed spokes in a fancy pattern. shimano hubs. 9 speed cassete. true. no dings. no tyres or tubes. the three wheels come to 4kg. so cost me £1. I strapped them to my rucksack and biked 7 miles home. wonders if I can mess with spacers and freehub bodies. get the wheel narrow enough to fit in my Rossin. its got 6 speed just now. Ive got a few 7 speed freehubs. also have a pair of 7 speed downtube shifters.

Ive got another dynohub wheel. 26X1 3/8". My Raleigh Traveller had one. But its rim was dented. spokes were wrong too. so I ripped it to bits. got the hub wrapped up. So its got a regular 3 speed laced to a new alloy rim. I'm thinking the new wheel can be ripped to bits. then the spokes used on my other hub to build into another alloy 26" rim. So my Traveller can have its own hub back then the new hub can be built into a 20" rim for my folder bike. will have to figure out what spoke lengths are for a 20" hub. Will try placing a 20" rim ontop of the 26" wheel and measuring it. Spoke calculators are complicated. the dynohubs are 36 hole, so easy to build to other rims.

I thought I would remove the fixed cups from a few frames. they were stuck in there. Ive got a big spanner at the car boot sale last week. but its a couple of mm to small for the bb cup. I did start filing it. but would still be doing that now. :/ I then remembered that I had used an adjustable spanner to do this before. got it out and fitted it to the cup. This has to be held on. Ive used a big bolt before. don't have one that size. the bb axle was still in there. so I got my box of bb bits. put some big washers from a one peice crank, between the spanner and the crank arm. then out side to stand on the frame and the steel tube over the spanner handle. only get a quarter turn before the handle hits the frame. I oiled it and worked it back and forward. I got the bb cup off the alloy y, and the 2 XC26s frames I have. I'm thinking of building up the 17" XC26s frame. Its an alloy rigid frame with 3 cables running along the top tube. V brake studs, no rear disc tabs. 31.8mm seat tube diameter. 27.2mm seat post. 1 1/8" fork steerer. I don't have a complete Aheadset for it. the 20" XC26s is missing the top bit that goes between the bearings and the spacers. So might actually have to buy an Aheadset from a shop. I got the paint stripper out. I stripped the bb shell and some of the chainstays. wanting it shiny aluminium. well for a week or so. then dull grey alloy with white corrosion. :/

I worked on the Rossin. Its got a knick in the bar tape on the top section. so I unwrapped it again. cut it out and rewrapped it. nice and smooth now. I taped round the worn old brake lever hoods. I flipped the bike upside down. the gear hanger was bent. I couldnt get top gear. so I realigned it with the adjustable spanner. I noticed the freewheel said made in France on it. I switched the indexing back on. tried to set it so it works. but no joy. I think the Shimano 600 rear mechs too old, it doesnt have a cable adjuster. And the french block isnt spaced right. So I just switched the index back off again.

I was up at town today on the white bike. not much at the car boot sales. there was a music show on at the edge of town. but that was 90 minutes wait away. so I left town. I didnt go over the elliot bridge. I went to the beach to see if I could get across. Narrowest is about 4 feet. about a foot deep with stones in there. So I went out to near the sea. streams shallower but wider there. some stepping stones. got across. Maybes a folding bikes not the best bike to travel on sand. It was too high geared. so was just pushing it.
