Any idea how to do a split screen

Hi just a thought but i fancie making my ford fire truck a split screen any ideas how.I was thinking of the bit thats in the middle of a vw split camper but does anyone sell that as a repair bit.All ideas welcome.thanks

Might be easier to source the screen centre off an early Minor than a split VW.

The screen on the bullion van looks like it's got some kind of inset housing made of what looks like fibreglass, but I am sure it's not, cos it would have to be bullet proof. It sits inside the dash and normal windscreen aperture, but it's pretty industrial (or not pretty, as the case may be), being held in by rivets. The 2cm glass seems to be bonded into it.

all it is, it's a amazon side trim mounted on the inside so the wiper blade still works

Oh yes, wiper blades, you have to think about those. The bullion van's are tiny, only 16in compared to 20in on a standard van.

i should be ok ish with the wipers its a big screen it has.I thought of the mm but you really don't see many of them.

at my work we sell these if it's any use, £200, but they're the best repro VW panels you can get, also dfferent height ones here.

Yeah, cut the glass. Fill the gap with windshield urethane. Cover it with a strap if you want. If you want a center channel pillar, get a couple lengths of angle aluminum strips, such as for home sliding door screen or glass doors, and have a ball. Easy peasy. My project didn't need any center support. Here's a pic from my locked build thread:

Bear in mind the transit's a pretty big screen too, but in reality a split screen is in fact 2 screens. You can't have the wipers touching part of the surround, and the original ones will. That's why smaller blades are fitted.
