New and Improved..... Abi gave Dan the deposit yesterday, and hopefully should be collecting it on Sunday... sadly minus the stonking 2332 EFi Race Motor, she'll be making do with a 1600cc with Twin Dellorto Carbs... It's Still SERIOUSLY cool though ;D

Jealousy was never my thing - until now. Its a great bus. Is it stripped out or does it have some interior?

It's got a full width Rock and Roll bed in it, and some more random camping paraphinalia..... including curtains Plus the Roll Cage and all the other gubbins... It's taking a sabbatical from it's drag racing career... but may well return... (just slightly slower!)

You should put an Alfa Romeo flat 4 in it! I know a guy who's done it a load of times, to Campers, Vans and Beetles too. It wouldn't be too hard, but it might need a front rad, and he goes the hard way and puts the EFi on it, but you could stick twin Webers on there nae bother at aw', man (glasgowspeak!)

If quickness were a priority, she'd stick with the current motor... 2332cc DTA Fuel Injection, Jenvy Throttle Bodies..... blah blah blah... best time in Van is 15.11 Qtr Mile... 200Bhp and capable of well over 120Mph.... not bad for a 40 year old camper

Nice Looks similar to our '66 spiltty, same colour (we've not got the power or the wheels though! ) RK - What does Abi do for a living to buy all these dubs?

(well, 1600 twin 36 dellorto power - but not 2332 power) She's gonna be selling the wedge and the Beach buggy to part fund this...... So that'll leave her Beetle (first car - in need of resto) a Polo GT and the split..... she works for a 'professional services' company (sounds SO Dodgy, but basically she does admin for managed offices)....

Lovely bus though, Sambas are certainly the cool vehicle to own at the moment

I think I saw your Derby in the camping area behind the trade stands... I walked past at about 9am on Sunday, having just hiked from day parking! Looked According to Dan, the engine is still Sweet as a nut, but the Diff in his gearbox went POP..... so everything went a bit pear shaped! A REAL shame, as he was aiming for 14's and should have been capable of them too..... not really a fitting end for the Sambasaurus Mk1... Abi has assured me that it WILL return to the VWDRC (just a bit.... milder!)

The gearbox often seems to be the weak link with big power VW flat fours (there seemed to be quite a few blown over the weekend) Hopefully it will be easier and cheaper for him to fix the diff than pull the engine apart? It would be good to see Abi run the Samba in the VWDRC again soon, I presume Dan the previous owner is putting the big motor in a lighter - more aerodynamic car for next year? Not sure if I understand bracket racing - is there any incentive to dial-in fast times? (Other than it being more exciting ;D) As presumably it would be alot easier to run consistant times with a less powerfull, less tempermental vehicle? Yes, that was my Derby (next to my brown 'retro' ridge tent) Behind the trade stands in club camping.

The race motor is for sale for £5k..... it was a standard 1302s gearbox... and he'd been running it for a season and a half.... no surprises that it went pop! Dan's looking for something more camper focussed for his next 'project' he's after a Type25 Westfalia Joker (or similar) there's even been rumblings of a Karmann Gypsy.... If only for the phonecall to the scrutineers asking if you can have a toilet in a race car! ha ha!
