Bit of back-posting here, as not updated this thread
Soo yeah this happened last saturday, as I finished my Landy early...
Got her ready for Tim Morgan who have VERY generously agreed to help me fit the new clutch
Soo sunday came about and...
This was when we stopped for lunch:
However still have a clutch hydraulic issue, traced to the flexi being borked. Going to give Uncle Malc a call tomorrow see how quickly he can get one to me (Also need to see about getting a new gearbox mounting bolt)
& all put together, been running (though a jubilee clip on the bottom hose is borked aswell) & the battery is on charge
Only ran her briefly due to the hose, but was enough to highlight still a clutch problem.
Traced that to the flexi at the back end, soo ordered one & fitted asap, which gave this:
]
Got the clutch flexi fitted, and finally bled up (took the slave cylinder off to do bleed it, using easybleed)
However there was still what felt like air in the system, despite None coming out
Drove her to the Griffins Head meet wednesday night, tried bleeding her again thursday night before going the Imp club area meet. Had a couple of the folks there very kindly have a look, and traced a faulty master cylinder.
Soo yesterday fitted one I'd had brand new before but swapped in the previous clutch issues
And now Odie is fully working again
MASSIVE thank you to Tim aswell!!!

Unfortunately hun there's no way I can afford WWW this year, thanks to this:
torn rotoflex, passenger side
As people on my facebook or the Imp clubs facebook page will know, I'd been umming & ahhing between spending a lot of money on another set of competition/lotus rotoflexes, or giving the BMW ones a try.
In the end the fact I got both BMW ones for less than the cheapest Lotus one I'm going that route this tim But I'm keeping my still-good competition rotoflex, as well as the standard bolts, and NOT modifying the car in any way to fit the BMW ones
Also will be keeping a VERY close eye on them, to see how they perform (remember Odie is pretty much my daily driver, covering a minimum 1000 miles a month)
Bit gutted to have missed all the events this year, but next year!

Well odie is now running very nicely on BMW donuts
must admit the first one was a touch fiddly (not as much as a lotus one to do though!!) but the second went Very smoothly I ended up using four of my washers to make the 'thick' side, and two on the bolt head side, as mine were quite thin washers.
I cannot say a big enough thank you to Ash Cull for his advice on this, and the re-assurance (I confess I was nervous!) And to John for the pics he sent me
Also thank you to Luke for inadvertently helping without knowing, by way of telling Ash about them in the first place
xXx
(ps I'll get some photo's of how mine sit in daylight tomorrow)

Just had one of those 'that could have got Interesting' moments
Went out to Odie on my teabreak to do a fluids check before going Manchester later.
Decided to run her whilst stood at the back, and realised the fuel pipe into the pump was leaking, dripping super unleaded nicely onto the exhaust!
quickly tightened the clip up, no leak now

Heya all!
been a bit quiet again
This is mainly as Odie decided to try & eat her own engine. Again :/
She's currently over at Humber Auto's in Coventry, where they found compression to be 60-70 on cylinders 1. 3 & 4. and 0 on 2.

Not updated in sooo long!
Well Odie had to have some holes in her floor patched to get through the MOT, plan was to take her off the road when the weather turns bad & restore.
Was.
Then this happened:

(should be able to see the pics without a facebook account)
I stopped for a red traffic light, and the fiat 500 behind didn't think I would...
Currently getting quotes for the insurance
She WILL be back, though probably not till next year. But will then be a solid restored Imp

That's a shame, but it doesn't look too bad, and I'm guessing the 500 is looking a LOT worse!
Fingers crossed the ins. co pays out without delay and you can get cracking!

Oh what a curse word, hope you are ok and not to banged up, at least it doesn't look too bad, do you have a body work place you could trust to take it to, rather than getting the insurers 'approved' repairers, as its not your fault you should be able to choose the place of repair with very little drama as long as their quote isn't massively more than anybody elses.

Well the verdict is in, and written off Cat D
Have retained the wreck, as a cat D doesn't bother me as NEVER going to sell her!!
Going to discuss with a couple of people about getting the bodywork sorted (all of it) then mechanically sort her
Odie is dead. Long live Odie!!
(Also I've torn a muscle in my right shoulder in the accident, which is being sorted )

What a darn shame! I can't believe that's a write off...?!
Good luck with getting this superb motor back on the road and I hope your shoulder sorts itself out pretty sharpish.

i suppose it's because insurance comanies (mainstream ones anyway) see old cars as a liability. and because they're old they're not worth fixing.
How wrong they are!

Bad luck about the accident, the torn shoulder and Odie being written off but great news that you're going to get him repaired and back on the road.

Any news on Odie yet? I bought a cat-d escort (the rubbish mk6) some years back, fixed it and ran it for 7yrs. Boring story I know, but the same should apply to the imp? I only re MOT'd the escort and then insured it as normal each year. I don't think you even have to mot it if it has current MOT when written off as a cat-d, I had to because the salvage yard chose to retain the mot certificate and it wasn't online then.
Anyway I digress, more interested in how the imp is now.
-Steve-
Ps. The front wing, last seen next to the campfire at the gathering, is now on the 924 and out and out the road too!
