I'm just about to treat myself to a lovely little Triumph Toledo but I feel the need to spruce it up in a subtle 70's way...! I was thinking Dolly Sprint alloys and steering wheel and maybe lowering a couple of inches...?! Also, is there any way of getting any more sting out of the the 1300cc Triumph unit...?! This will mainly be used around town to save on petrol (my other car is a 3-litre Granada)... Any advice/inspiration...?!

I would fit a chin spoiler from an 1850 or sprint, and if you are feeling enthusiastic I would change the hubs and fit stag wheels.
Let us know what happens!

The 1300's have been tuned to 120+ bhp. Not sure how reliable/drivable that is though. Swop in an 1850 or 2.0 TR7 lump shouldn't be too hard i'd have thought. A healthy stick beating and some nice wheels (Allycats maybe?) and job done. Personally I'd be dropping in a K series or Rover 620 turbo lump  |

I would have thought simply adding "off the shelf" 1300 Spitfire parts would be the easiest route for a little more power for little hassle.

Many, many years ago Hot Rod magazine did an article about someoen who fitted a Rover V8 into a Toledo.
I met the owner at the local scrap yard and he told me the motivation was insurance. The premium for a V8 in a Toledo was LESS than fitting a 1850 !

There's a few drifting around with Rover V8s in, my Dad's got a two door one with a Stag V8 in it! Still yet to see the road but it's all together and running Will be ace when it's done. Lowered springs are a sound bet, polybushes make a world of difference to the ride and handling if the originals are long perished, EBC pads and braided brake lines sharpen up the brakes a little, while a Rallysports UJ and poly rack mounts will help give the steering a little more feel. The 1300's a good little mill, a good thorough service with new ignition points and a full timing job is a great place to start. A rampipe, decent metal-backed air filter (ITG or K&N assembly), NGK plugs and a better coil will get the best out of the stock engine. You'll have to probably change the needle in the carb if you get it breathing a little better |

Not a Toledo but a Dolly, but Sprint alloys (painted and polished) then lowered a little.  That janspeed toledo is sweet! Two well known ones are the orange one above and the blue one below (with added TR7 alloys by myslef) -  |

I'd do so many things, I'd mostly emulate the one I saw at Billing a few years ago, but that was a big pile of metalflake, minibar, bubble window, jacked up rear end 70s madness that most find appalling. I wanted to buy it so bad! Wish I'd had a camera to get some pics, it was awesome. Alternatively (since that lovely orange one has been posted already)....    |

If there's possibilities to get some power out of the engine, i'd go the sleeper route. Don't think that the shape really are suited to exterior modifications to be honest...

I like the idea of the TR7 alloys so I may go down that route... I want to keep it as 'Triumph/BL' as possible if you get my drift...?! If I could go the Janspeed route that'd be ace...!!! Anyhow, this is going to be a budget project (aren't they all?!) so I need to try and be wise with the pennies...  |

1296cc triumph engine is pretty tuneable. Spitfire cam and carbs will make it good. These engines are pretty torquey standard. As for making it different. 1300FWD bumpers. Id be wary of lowering these as they have a lot of stuff that will easily make it ground out. Youd also need to reroute the exhaust
