Hoopsontoast illustrated his tyre question post with these pictures. I thought it worth trying to find out more. Not had a huge amount of luck finding much info though. Its a Rover V8 but the caption from this pic says its from a Leyland P76! WHat a great car to use as a donor ;D

That's cool, funny i prefer it without the bumpers - looks dead mean. I've listened to that 2nd video about 10 times in a row there and I've concluded that it sounds the sex

I also looked for more info on that car, but found naff all. Though the videos you've posted I saw the other day! Never put two and two together.
I have a new inspiration for mine... Though definitely need to chop the rear arches so the doors open heh. Thanks!

BTW - The Leyland P76 used a 4.4 Litre version of the Rover V8, hence why we downunder all thought Rover was bonkers when they bragged about increasing the V8's capacity to 3.9, 4.0, 4.2 etc in Range Rovers. It had all been done before.

That's one tough Dolly! I didn't know the P76 had a 4.4 litre RV8 - you guys in Aus got some cool stuff!

This is no criticism at all - but from watching the videos, does it seem really slow or is it just me? I've seen Sprints going faster around a track! That is, of course, assuming it's not just being pedalled gently - but I expected a little more!

P76 engine was standard bore and long stroke, ir it was me i would have bored it for 3.9 pistons.
P76 block was also taller to take the stroke and the heads were diffrent but the better flowing later rover heads will bolt on.

Now that's a brutal Dolly! That Leyland sticker on the back would back up the P76 engine swap idea. It's from New Zealand too. The flag on the back door has red stars and one less then the Ozzy. Also the Ford panel van ext to it has NZ plates on it.
Cheers

Very cool car. The front valance is very successful I think. Most racing Dollys just have a bigger front spoiler grafted on but that looks like a whole new, deeper valance and no separate spoiler, neat.

Definately New Zealand, the track in the videos, Manfield is the current home of the New Zealand grand prix (held last weekend) and is in a town called Fielding (just outside of Palmerston North, lower North Island)

Good on ya..i added all that an then deleted it!..perhaps we should explain the difference btwn Aussie number plates and Kiwi ones..Aussie..3 letters -3 numbers [yellow=NSW] Kiwi old black plate..2 letters/4 numbers..I'm in Wanganui close to Manfield and we intend to go to one of their next Club meets as spectators.

That is, of course, assuming it's not just being pedalled gently - but I expected a little more! Not setup particularly well either, seems a bit loose to me. There's another video somewhere of him spinning it mere inches away from hitting the wall on a pretty slow speed corner...

This is my car. The triumphmad Racing V8 dolomite. It is a 4.4L p76 engine and it is in New Zealand. No its not slow but with the cam up high it can look slower than it is. In the first vid i was just doing some slow laps to make sure everything was working. The setup wasnt bad but its even better now with some recent changes I made. When it was raced at the Triumph nationals it was the fastest triumph.
