The start of the year seems to be miserable month, but for me its an expensive month, the Beetle and Camper are both due a service and MOT, the Beetle requires taxing and the Passat needed a service and four new tyres as well. So over the last few weekends I've been up and down to my air-cooled mechanic friend for the work.
Weekend one
Fire camper up and head over with new mountain bike in the back, drop off for service and MOT and cycle home.
Weekend two
Drive Beetle over for its MOT and service and collect Camper, one advisory for a "slight oil leak" Celebrate with a water cooled Passat party when some friends pop round!
Weekend three
Got very drunk and peppered with paintballs on mates stag do, nothing retro related to report
Weekend four
Drive Passat over for a service, sails through with no problems, collect Beetle that has also sailed through with no problems and give my daughter her first Beetle ride. She loves it.
Get home, park everything on drive and admire a fully working fleet all T&T for the year.
With the added bonus for the eagle eyes amongst you that spotted the rack on the Beetle. My wifes grandad has moved into a home and we are clearing his house out to sell, found the old rack in the garage roof, turns out it had been strapped to his old Citroen DS19 in the 70s and with minor adjustments fits the gutters of the Bug perfectly and is curved to match the roofline as well ;D
