That's right, you can now buy a brand new Lada Niva in the UK again. Currently in LHD only you can pick up a brand new Niva in a choice of four colours for just over £10k. If I was in the market for a 4x4 I'd be all over this like a shot. Click Here for more details.

Lol, nice to see them back AGAIN (whats this? third time?) but have you driven one? They are not bad when second hand and cheap, but for 10K? no legroom, not much power and very uncomfy on the road, great off it admittedly as long as you don't need to tow anything.
Just think what other 4x4 you could buy a few years old for 10k, or even how much of a holiday around the old eastern block you could have and STILL bring a Niva back with you.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

It might not make great economic sense, but as new £10k cars go, if I had to choose between this and a Fiesta I know what I'd have. Have some more Nivas: This pic is toooo big to post, but you have to see it. www.fatpunkstudio.com/downloads/lada-niva-desktop/

Wow! I see they gave it a nice facelift... NOT! Not many cars that you can buy brand new are almost exactly the same as 30+ years ago

If you could live with it as a daily then it probably would cost in. They only want an additional £395 to fit an LPG system AND you can take it anywhere you like for servicing so long as the garage is VAT registered, basically, servicing on the cheap. Oh and it has got "aerodynamically efficient front indicators"....mwahahaha!!

I had a '79 4-speed 1600 Niva (converted to RHD) in the early 90's for a year or so. Paid £400 for it, used it as a daily driver/weekend toy. Epic off-road, noisy/coarse/uncomfortable/thirsty on it. GREAT fun, though. Swapped it for a 12-string acoustic guitar which I still own to this day. Give it three years and you'll be able to pick up a used one for peanuts.

^^Assuming that people will buy them? Only people who'd buy one i'd imagine will hang onto it until it's run into the ground.
They are great cars if you pick one up for <£500. No idea why you'd want to splash £10k on one though.

Last one I bought was 7 years ago for fifty quid. Ran it for 4 months till the MOT ran out and sold for £300. I loved it. Especially on Cornish dunes and beaches.

I do like the Niva, but I wouldn't (couldn't!) spend 10 large on one. Imagine what sort of a retro you could get for that!
I like the Niva for its honesty though - it is what it is, and makes no apologies for having a harsh ride, or lack of creature comforts, or deficiency in cup holders.

Apparently you can still buy a Niva "Marsh" from the factory, Violet! I dread to think of the cost, but imagine taking delivery of one. That's something I WOULD buy new if I could! ;D

It might not make great economic sense, but as new £10k cars go, if I had to choose between this and a Fiesta I know what I'd have. A marketing ploy which failed for the Hindustan Ambassador too. If I had £10K I'd buy a used Chevy Suburban, Denali, Dodge Ram, Range Rover, BMW X3 / X5 whatever (no idea what they cost LOL) If I was spending £750 I'd look at a Lada... Now if they could bring the Riva and price it at £2999 like they did back in the day then maybe I'd be more excited. I wonder how many they sell.
