How do people on here cure there oxidised red cars? my escort is looking pretty pinkish at the moment and i don't want to be spending a fortune at all. Also if I'm gonna put some work in i don't want to use something that will fade again like that colour back stuff. I've been told it needs a good machine polish detail. Don't want to spend much becuse i don't have much and I'm saving for the right mk3 Escort when it turns up. This is her anyway: i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll97/chrisofyellow/CJHillman/P1010311.jpg

If your doing it on the cheap = T-Cut and a shed load of rubbing! Wax it after.
Propley = Trizac wet sand followed by a machine polish

Spent a fair while on our racing pink golf the other week. Tcut then colour restore wax with expensive wax to finish and the curse word has gone back to wibblepoo already Heard good things about g3 though being a tight wad I didn't buy it and used what I found in the garage.

be carefull if you use a powerfull polisher which isnt a random orbital one, its very easy to burn the paint! you can get good packages from cleanyourcar.co.uk ranging from £70 for a basic da polisher (which is a very good bit of kit) up to £200 for a top spec one with polishes and mops. turtle wax platinum works really well on red cars. ive had red cars for years now and its the best ive tried for the money. without spending 20+ on a wax, i don't think there is anything better. i also find waxing every other week helps too (doesnt take to long after the first wax, as you are simply topping it up) its easier to keep a clean paint clean, rather than trying to restore neglected paint once every six months

Nice random orbital polisher, a cutting polish and then a good coating of wax. Ive always used turtlewax to good effect.
If you don't wax it afterwards, i,e build up a protective layer against road dirt and air pollution expect the sucked smartie effect to return. Its also worth parking it in the shade if you can for a bit of UV protection

If its red use black colour magic, in fact, if its any colour use black colour magic....costs around £16 a bottle, and will make any turd look lie a diamond.
It's made by Tcut, but unlike ""Tcut"" you don't have to pull your hair our trying to remove it, and being black, if it gets on the rubbers and trim it comes off super easy, and will make any red car look like its just left the show room.

i'll have to have a look for a random orbital polisher. Are they just much easier/less powerful than the silverline type?
i'll get some turtle wax and a cutting polish then see where i can go from there.
I did use the turtle wax magic colour a few times before, but its gone dull now and a bit like a crayon to touch. i guess i went a bit overboard and will need to get this off before i start.
