I'm kinda glad that I'm putting a T5 manual box behind my 500bhp+ blown 350 thats going in the Olds....
Not so much to break?

I'm kinda glad that I'm putting a T5 manual box behind my 500bhp+ blown 350 thats going in the Olds.... Not so much to break? BW T5 is only good for 400 BHP and about 300 lbs of torque. It should last about 5 minutes in the Oldsmobile. Get a TKO or something which can take the power! |

Wise words indeed! It could have been a lot worse I guess. I once blew up a indestructible Datsun engine trying to teach an Astrayvan a lesson in road etiquette. I can still see the van drivers moronic grinning face.

kind of reminds me of this '63 Fury I bought once,I was buying a trailer from a guy and he had 30 Dodge Phoenixes....amongst his line up was this Red Fury.He noticed me purving on it and said.." give me some more money and I'll put in on the trailer for you.." So I became the owner of a car which hadn't been driven for almost 20 years,( thats the same paint on it in the pic) .It had a tired 318 Poly motor ,so I junked that and bought a 360 Cu.In. LA motor for a grand and dropped that in,( bolt in deal) I had no idea what so ever about the engines condition and I didn't even know if the original Plymouth trans was OK....!.(Torque flite push button...) So when i fired it up for the first time ,It sounded kind of...you know...Serious...  The first drive was OK ,it went to 100 fairly quickly...until I remembered it has a miles per hour speedo not kilometers.100MPH came up very quickly. so I went out to the highway and ran it up to 120MPH on the speedo,whereupon I nailed it....and it took off..SHHEEEEEEIIIIT!!! The next weekwend was a swap at the Gold coast,so thought I'd take it over and try and sell it... No deals were done So I headed out for a spot of Cruising around surfers paradise,which on a saturday night is full of Street racers. The First fun encounter was a Mitsubishi turbo something,which sat beside me at the lights.The Plymouth had a nasty rumbling idle which obviously peaked the guys interest and when the lights turned green he sped off,I drove next to him to the next lights and when they turned green I really let the Fury out of the bottle... massive clouds of white smoke from 20 year old tires followed me down the road. ;D The mitsubishi pulled up at the next lights behind me and i yelled and asked if wanted to race.. Silly boy just looked away and turned left down a side street.  Second wife made me sell it,Wifes gone ( divorced) and I can never afford to buy it back....Moral of the story? never marry some one who thinks a car older than her is n't any good. |

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.

this was at york raceway last weekend and i loved it! the guy was running it without filter and it had some impressive spit backs!   sounded fantastic, was bloody quick too. |

lol, ive bust a mini box doing J turns, stacked the shuv into a kerb smashing a wheel and bending suspension doing dohnuts. The best was blowing my mini engine racing other minis down the (private) motorway to Aston Hall mini show, arriving in a cloud of smoke, which inevitably drew a croud! I had to call the AA and left the show on the back of a flat bed and as i was leaving, was filmed by Midlands Today and shown on the news that evening! - Top Tittery
