Multi car insurance policies

Sorry if this is boring in a gen chat/what colour are your underpants type OT way...but I wondered how any of you with more than 1 car insure your fleet. I saw the ad on TV from Admiral regarding multi car policies,and it got me thinking.

I have a trade policy for my cars. 10 cars insured for me and my wife £700 for the year TPFT covers us to drive any car or commercial vehicle and includes cover for a trailer with upto two cars on it as well. I have never had an accident so I don't know how good/bad the company would though.

Admiral are certainly cheap on the multi-car policies, will be changing to them in July, provided they give me 3rd party cover on any other vehicle (which is always a bit dodgy, I know....)

I have two cars insured but I just have one on a Classic policy and then use my no-claims on my daily driver. Not much help to you I guess but worked out the cheapest for me- £400-ish for the M3 and about £300 for the 306 XSi with my learner-driver girlfriend on the policy.

I know some companies (Elephant par example) mirror your no-claims on a second car so if it's only 2/3 cars that might work out cheaper.

Admiral quoted me £615 to insure my red Rapid 136, the yellow Rapid 120,the Estelle 130 and the Favorit. That's fully comp,with £100 excess, and includes my wife who's just passed her test as a named driver. I've got full no claims,and it would be protected. Does that sound reasonable to you guys/girls?

£615 for 4 cars, and one of the drivers has just passed their test? Sounds very good to me!!

We've currently got 5 cars insured betwen the two of us, the 106 and 480 on everyday policies using our NCBs, and the Manta, Cav & Monza on classic agreed value policies. We've got them all with RH. I've thought about multi car policies, but I don't know of one that would give agreed value. I'm guessing we're paying around £800 a year all in, that's fully comp, breakdown cover, business use and driving other vehicles.

Ive also got a traders policy. i pay a bit more though £1200 but i am covered to drive any car upto the value of £250,000, which i think covers most cars ill ever drive :-).

I pay £190 fully comp to insure the following:

1965 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight
1966 Buick LeSabre
1968 Plymouth Sport Fury
1970 Vauxhall Ventora

Might also have the 1967 Vauxhall Victoron there as well.

No mileage restriction, includes euro green card and legal protection cover, right of salvage in the event of a write-off and also covers all my spare parts for loss or damage when stored off the vehicle! bargain... Footman James FTW.

You can add class 1 business use for £34 so long as you are not in a "restricted trade" which is basically motorsport, motor trade, actor, journalist.

For stock classics you can't beat these guys.

I've had six cars on one ploicy with them and it still never went over £200.

Again, I'll say beware trade policies if you are not trading. They require you to notify them of all the cars you buy and sell now on some to prove you are trading. Other will just ask for proof if you claim... Most of them don;t insure the cars for theft from your home for some reason....

I know someone on the dole that has a traders policy for all his cars which makes me angry, but what the silly fool hasn't twigged is that not only are his cars not really insured in the event of a claim..he's also admitting to the government that he's working while receiving dole money..double fool,and I hope the book is thrown at him when he's caught out!

just to add to the knowledge here, roadsure are now doing multicar/all your fleet insurance. nasc members get 10% off too ;D
might have to get a quote soon, like when the 02 is finished.
