and it stuck for so long that some friends only know me as that. There's a chap I work with who has a neighbour (on the same estate) known as 'Vanwank' as someone caught him pulling himself off in the back of a van sometime in the mid 80's. It's stuck that well that kids whose parents hadn't been born at the time call him that. Vanwank! Can you imagine haha.

Back in my skinnier days I had a crew cut and looked a bit like forest gump, and being young and not caring about my Saturday job I used to make a lot of mistakes leaving the older boys to mock me with forest gump quotes and then became gump then if something was cocked up at work they say it was'a gumpy job' and it stuck for so long that some friends only know me as that.

Has anyone else used Lancaster and had nothing but issues with them ? I've used them for years and never had any problems but my other half has insured her capri with them and has nothing but problems.
So we get a good price from them car is only used for occasional outings and shows and is locked in my converted barn garage with secure wall perimeter and 2 lots of secured gates, about 2 miles from our home. We heard nothing from them for almost 2 weeks and suddenly receive a call asking for more information about the garage, other vehicles we own etc.
After the call they say everything is fine and they will confirm it's all sorted. 2 days later another call to say they aren't happy about the garage and the car has to be kept on the drive at our home or the policy will be cancelled and have not given us a reason why. We found out then the policy was increased by £80, then receive an email today saying they need proof the vehicle is on the drive , proof we drive another vehicle (we have 4 vehicles) , all our licenses, e-proof of our licence from the government website , photos of the drive etc. It's such a huge ballache we want to cancel but will have to pay over £100. Any ideas how we can get out of the policy without paying ?

That looks brill. I reckon the mk1 front end looks a million times better. Did it take much to attach it? Had to make a new hole in the slam panel for the bonnet hook to fit through and extend the the bonnet catch , also had to drill the grill (rhyme unintended) to attach to the old mountings.

Retrimmed seats are great . Any clues as to the fabric or where you got it ? Is it actually car upholstery or from somewhere else ? It was just some check fabric from eBay! We recovered the seat cushions for less than a tenner but makes them look a thousand times better !

Seriously is it? I have seen a few Focus in Stealth Grey and they look wired that looks quite retro and more pastel grey a lot nicer. Yeh she initially decided on slate grey which was alot darker (in preferred it) but she seen the new focus stealth grey and wanted something similar so we settled on telecom grey it's pretty much a glossy primer grey.

updates galore ! not alot was happening with the metro besides using it everyday waiting for my bonnet to arrive... 4 months later it was clear i wasnt receiving my bonnet so i was refunded and in a pretty low mood with the metro losing gears and no bonnet. i decided to swap out the clutch cable which left me in a worse place than i started, so assuming the cable setup was at fault i built a hydraulic setup using a land rover master cylinder mounted to the bulkhead feeding a mini slave and clutch lever. still no gears and clutch was not disengaging. bad times... i decide to delve deeper into the clutch saga. after fhting to remove the crank bolt for over an hour the previous owner had welded possibly a spanner to it and the socket would not fit on, we slowly chipped away at the weld enough to get a socket slightly gripping it and using a breaker bar with a 6ft bar attached to it it started to move. Anybody whos ever fitted a clutch to a mini/metro will understand how they can be an absolute pig to remove with the puller... nope not this one , the flywheel literally fell of the crank with no effort leaving me with a crank taper that looks like this. annoyingly the previous owner had fitted a new clutch and royally ballsed it up putting it back together by putting the flywheel washer key on the wrong way and after a few hundred miles started to grind and chew its way through other parts of the crank/clutch ,i wasnt taking any chances and fitted a new clutch , new flywheel boss and key washer etc. and finally had gears ! after the clutch saga was over i decided to focus on fitting bike carbs to the little a series. got cracking on a manifold. i purchased an LCB exhaust manifold from a chap here and got to work fitting it all together. the carbs are twin 36mm mikuni bsr's from a suzuki 500gs they fired up on the stock bike jets but it ran terrible. over 2 weeks i experimented with jet sizes , needle heights air corrector blanking, balancing before settling on a combination that worked. if you are planning on fitting bike carbs to a 1275 a series i suggest the following 200 main jets , needles lifted one notch , pilot screws out 2.5 turns with idle air correctors blocked on the face of the carbs and heres a short video of it running. after the bonnet issue of the supplier failing to deliver the goods. i decided to go for a mk1 front end (i prefer the mk1) so found a bonnet in wiltshire for peanuts and a grill on ebayand with lots of fettling got it looking like this. unfortunately our new york holiday was ruined by a small error on my mrs passport resultng in her not being allowed into the U.S so weve decided to put our holiday spending money into our cars so hopefully this week should see some paint and new shiny parts bolted on.
