...ive been getting quotes for around £2000 for insurance... I'm in the 'keep it' camp. Just because it has the potential for expensive problems, doesn't mean you have to repair them; you won't have lost anything if you weigh it in when something expensive needs doing.

Well i think the tuck on the back is fine. Rear arches can't cover up too much wheel in my opinion.
And I've been looking at different X5 wheels all day, plotting things which will probably never never come to fruition.

I bought my ZX for £470. Family owned from new, <60k, very well looked after. It does 47mpg, with me driving it like a loon most of the time, and it's not as slow as you'd think.
Parts are cheap (many shared with Saxo/Berlingo/AX/Xsara/C15). It's also big enough to drive on the motorway without being constantly in fear for your life, and has a fairly big boot.

For me classic is pre 1975, and retro starts after 1975 and ends with any car designed in the 1980s (panda, mk1 mx5, mk2 golf, citroen zx, etc) Think thats all because I am a child of the 80s, and the cars I grew up with don't feel like classics, but feel more special then just being 'old' Someone thinks my cars retro! I know not everyone would agree, and I'm not even sure if I do, but a ZX is definitely more retro than a 306 despite being the same car under the skin. Not sure where I'd draw the line, but if you have to plug it in to anything to fix it, then it's definitely out.

First pic is a W111, the others are W108s. I guess this the same type but not the exact car, only treated similarly. I actually drooled over those pictures.

Does it invcease with speed ? if it does check wheels and tyers First thing I did was swap the wheels around, I think I'll have another go just in case I swapped the dodgy one back on. could be the wheel bearing is shot? Yes, it increases with road speed. I've changed both TREs and both ball joints, and it's better-it only becomes unbearable at 60 now, rather than 45 How do I check the wheel bearings? Jack it up and spin the wheels?
