Can't say I've done much on my own cars through Oct-now part and parcel of working in the food industry, since the dreaded day has passed though I've had a few days off and put some time in on the Corvair. Now I removed the original wiring loom in its entirety I want to say either last year or early this year I can't remember due to hardness and cracks in a lot of the wiring sheaths, I was having random issues last year with indicators and sidelights not doing what they're supposed to do and low voltage to different things. I already had the basic Painless wiring 10102 kit from when I was going to redo my Z's loom. All this needed was splitting from and reversing/extending the engine bits from the front to the back. Most of it didn't need extending as they give you plenty of length, these are made to cover fullsize American trucks where a corvair is "small" Laid out within the car in the April and then has largely sat since then as I was repeatedly working on an E46. Now everything light based works as it should, I'll put LEDs in the dash as that's still old car dim. I have yet to finish the starter motor/ballast resistor wiring but not a big job. I also want to add in a dual cylinder head temp gauge at some point. All the interior - or what there was left that didn't get binned because of mold/age is back in and good to go. Picked up some period correct compomotive MLs to replace the standard steels. Aside the small wiring left, I need to reseal the petrol tank where the level sensor goes in (from beneath) as it has been weeping ever since I got the car and think about doing the shift tube seals - also leaking. I got a full engine seal kit from rock auto earlier in the year, I've been waiting until the car is running again to begin taking the engine apart to clean/paint parts as I want to do bitesize stuff from now on. Also, if you haven't seen Datslam for a while - hoooo boy you're in for a treat the next time you see it.

That's probably a better pic of the inlet piping and how it will sit when the carb isn't there any more. If you're looking at the waterpump pulley having no contact, don't worry I have a plan for that.

Christ, I don't feel like I progress much with this Skoda so, it was running, then it wasn't, the accuspark electronic ignition went out so I sourced another identical unit which fixed that issue, fairly sure I probably fit the + and - the wrong way round once by accident, it ran again for all of 5 minutes before it was popping and spluttering again like it was a few years ago. This turned out to be the rotor not fully seating down onto the distributor shaft because it couldn't thanks to the magnetic ring of the electronic ignition so the arm was essentially losing timing as it span loosely on the shaft. I decided screw it I'll sand a few mm off the bottom of the rotor arm and push it on that way. Bob's your uncle starts on the button again. I want to think a bush has gone in the gear mechanism now as it's very difficult to find gears. Clutch seems to operate fine and I rebled it to check. No fix there at the moment as I've not been arsed to investigate, drives forwards and back on the drive ok just very stiff gear selecting. Rear right lower shock bush failed so I replaced that, all this from sitting still in the garage haha. I got the car out onto the drive and it would seem the radiator has a hole in the lower end of it too now as it's leaking, doesn't even look old. Like perhaps it's done 1000 miles on it, fins are clear, clean and straight. So I'll probably slap some radweld in. I've replaced far too many things so far without driving it. Right front brake caliper will get a rebuild now I can turn the car round in the garage to get at it. Played a little more with the supercharger, IE I bought a smaller pulley and have made some piping. I think you can see where that's going. The piping sits square, or will do when the carb isn't there anymore and a plate is made up. Not sure what to do about boost ignition timing ATM. There are a few options out there. Just a matter of reading more - unless any of you could suggest something that is reliable. Seen some beetle guys recommend CB performance black box with a locked vac advance dizzy. Will get a different carb for the super charger inlet when I can afford it (probably next year) In other news, I spotted this Volvo with both mine and my brother's initials on the numberplate so looks like I might need to pester them to sell it to one of us.

The engine is the same orientation it is in the aygo no? Gearbox is on the left side when viewed from behind the engine, when viewed from the front, the intake is on the back, exhaust on the front. When you look at the engine when fitted to the aygo from the front, the gearbox is on the right, below the battery which is the same way it has been fitted in this fiat? Filler cap, when viewed from the front of the car is still on the left side so I'd think the shafts haven't been swapped left to right. Just the hub ends changed to work with whatever hubs are on the car.

Not a real one but it was cool enough to come off at the next junction, wait on the bridge for it to drive by for half an hour then drive back down to double check I wasn't dreaming. Guy seemed to be attempting to catch a few winks

On the skoda front, I've not been sitting idly. The supercharger is just a musing (it's genuine Aisin AMR500, the non-chinese ones are used by aircooled guys draw through style, the linings on the rotors are different and disintegrate with fuel through them if it's the chinese one, current pulley ratios make this not worth while, though with a 924 alternator pulley on the supercharger I could make 4-5PSI well below the superchargers RPM limit, these 136 engines are fairly high comp so am unsure if it could actually take it, I think 9.5:1 or 9.7:1 I don't remember exactly, hence just a musing) will get the car running, I haven't driven it further than 20m since I've owned it. I hate the red hose so that is going, I'm not sure where the original hose went, need to find a few more odds and sods, oil can go back in now finally. Am rebuilding the front brakes, not sure if I mentioned I found a woodscrew as a bleed valve a few years ago, had to drill and retap the caliper to fix, hence full disassembly to clean inside.

Yeah the car had a blowout not long before I got it which is the cause, I'd seen a few sellers on ebay doing similar things, I'll explore further before winter comes.

This was exciting. All the brakes were changed to those I bought for the black car. Has been faultless motoring really.

I've really been enjoying Sampson Boat Co's Tally Ho rebuild. Its been going 5 years now so plenty to catchup on.
When it comes to cars, I've been watching Ronald Finger. Very in depth and relatable restoration of a Fiero, he's done a few motorbikes and is currently working on his garage.

For those uninitiated, a clubsport is mechanically the same as a 330ci, unlike the CSL which had quite a few mechanical changes over the M3. They were treated as an individual package and were first delivered in April 2002, where mine was registered in May 2002, that package included :
- M-sport spoiler (most people dislike it - I clearly like it) - Individual colour (estoril blue, Velvet blue (purple in my eyes), carbon schwarz metallic and titan silver) I believe the rarest colour is the black with allegedly only 6 cars that colour. - M-sport lips on front bumper - some of these are carbon fibre (mine aren't) - Clubsport sill trim - Removal of 20kg of sound-deadening, probably offsets the larger wheels and spoiler - Style 71 twin spoke multipiece wheels. - Aluminium cube interior trim on dash, doors and gear surround.
With regards to interior, mine was specced with the grey leather and black roof liner when built but I'm aware this trim basic was an arguably nicer half leather set with sport inspired fabric.
In the Uk all clubsports were 330's. There were roughly 1000ea in total made through the years (some places incorrectly report 600ea), in other countries, clubsport was a trim option you could have so there are genuine non-330 clubsports out there abroad. To put this into perspective, there were 422ea CSL's in RHD made, ~5500 M3's in both convertible and coupe form in the UK. Though I'm under no illusion that the clubsport is in the same league as the M3's, because it isn't but it's still reasonably rare comparatively.
I have read discussion that clubsports have larger rear brakes than regular 330's at 320mm over 300mm though I have no idea if this is true or not, my car has 320mm, the black car I upgraded to 320mm's when I bought everything again and clubsports had harder suspension which I suspect is the same as you'd get on an M sport 330ci.
Things to note about my car, it is lowered on HSR coilovers and WAS an automatic originally, now a 6 speed manual. The Headlights have been changed to black housing where they should be silver from factory, it also has a bluetooth module fitted which allows me to play my songs from phone whilst retaining the factory radio.
