Dropped the Capri off at the garage today who mentioned there was play in the rack last time. They gave me a call to pop down so I could see what was going on with it as they knew I'd do the jobs.
Turns out:
-The ball joint on the passenger TCA is pretty nackard
-The Wheel bearing on that side is a bit loose so I need to sort that out or replace it... I did these myself a year or so ago.
-The drivers side part of the steering rack is a bit goosed. He didnt think it was as much as a problem as the TCA but putting my finger on it when he moved the wheel you could feel it going up and down. This is different to the passenger side isnt it? The mechanic thought it might be the spindle on that side of the rack but I'm wondering if you can fix this side easier? nickwheeler what do you think?
I'll probably buy some QH replacement TCAS... looks like its the same as the Ford Escort mk1/2. While I'm at it I might do the 2.8 Springs on the front and roller bearing top mounts as I've now got some spring compressors. The only other thing that I should do is the front shocks. I notice the car nose dives when I brake but they seem a bit pricey on ebay... I need to look around a bit I know. As always I need to keep it budget friendly but safe.
