Thanks man, the issue is that the the Rover's discs bolt to the back of the hub rather than slip over the studs, and use a smaller PCD. Turns out that's way more common on older cars than I thought! For instance my big Triumph has 4x114.3 wheels studs, but the disc is 4x101.6 (same as a Mini wheel bolt pattern) and bolts to the back of the hub. I have some new spacers for jag conversion. I want to keep them but can either measure them up or lend them to you to copy?

Spent the start of today making some exploratory cuts into the offside rear wheel arch. It looked pretty much perfect before i started, but once i had sanded off the top layer of paint i found filler. Below that i found a couple of badly gobbed scabs. So i picked those and found two area that will need attention. Fortunately the inner wheel lip is very good and can be welded back onto. A bit of the inner arch here will need some repairs but its no so bad. I also cut off the lower rear apron thing. There were some tiny scabs quite high up, so i lopped it all off. Then just for protection until i have finished the boot area, i treated the pock marked stuff with hydrate 80, and any good metal in bonda primer. Thats my sort of informal code. If its red that means good metal and i don't need to go exploring again. If its blue/black hydrate, then its suspect or work in progress. That way if i leave the project for ages (as happens too often) i know whats what. Made a closing patch out of fairly chunky steel sheet. Welded it in, not my best, couldnt see what i was doing as my helmet has been playing up Then i found a sheet of actual galvanised sheet steel, about 1.5-2mm thick and made the reinforcer plate for the tie down strap. Welded Tie down loop welded on. Not the neatest, but by the time it has epoxy, seam sealer and then textured underseal should be ok and hard not to think was original. Looks really good from teh boot interior side which is more important really. Just needs a good rub down, seam seal and epoxy.

Good work. Repairing those window frames looked a pain.

Oh my god how have I missed this! Great work. I have some power steering racks and hoses out of cars so if you need photos let me know. From memory the little shaft that goes from the column to the rack with the rubber joint might also be different between manual and power racks, or maybe it’s between series 1 and series 2? Can’t remember. Good idea fitting studs for the clutch master they are a proper pain in the but to remove and install single handed.

I have a nasty concrete sectional double garage on a badly poured not very level base. I want to demolish it and then instal a timber frame garage on top, about 6m x 6m. Question is, can I just add an extension to the existing slab and then pour over the remainder of the old one? And in which case what thickness of concrete would need to go over the old slab so the new to layer doesn’t crack?

So… I dipped in to this post about midway through to say something like good luck or similar. That was probably back in 2016 or so. I’ve finally done the entire thread start to finish. Roughly where in Kent are you? I’m down in east Kent near Canterbury, with a y reg Vitesse that I’m making little progress on. Wish I had your skills and ability to do it. I actually found a couple of pictures of my car prior to my ownership from some of your photos of a show you took the drift car too, which I’ve shamelessly stolen. Cool! Borrow photos at your will! I’m near Tonbridge but was born in Canterbury. Happy to come visit and try and help with advice if needed?

I have a very noisy old van with a curse word radio. I was thinking a set of headphones with In build DAB radio would solve the problem, but have since been told that DAB radios in cars are different to the ones in static units as they have different tuning capabilities. So they don’t auto tune like a car radio. Has anyone tried DAB headphones in a car whilst driving and how well did they work?

Perversion of the highest order. One of my favourite threads due to the quality of the work and the photography.
Did you do the paint with rattle cans? A colour and a clear? Or was it with a compressor?
