Better off with the arms as you will then have two new ball joints also.

Good question! I'm guessing upper track control arm bushes. I'm not sure but I have a funny feeling you have to buy the complete arms.
I'm sure I'm right about the anti clockwise adjustment but I will check the manual tomorrow just to be sure.....

Check the engine mounts. If they have collapsed then the engine drops and restricts access. You should be able to get in and adjust it in situ though all things being equal. Remember to take up play you adjust the screw outwards. The position of the screw can give a good idea of the state of the box. If it is well out already then the box could be worn. Remember too that this type of system does have quite a lot of free play at the wheel but as you are a seasoned Mercedes owner I'm sure you know that already!

Try adjusting the steering box first if it is the box that is the problem. There is an idler and a lot of joints that can induce play. If the box is shagged you should be able to source a second hand replacement pretty easily.

Back at it again today. No welding done just more time trying to remove previous repairs. Managed to save most of the front section above, which is good as it is curved and harder to remake. Unfortunately I was not able to remove the previous repairs further back so I was forced to remove the factory flange here too. Managed to get rid of most of the old front section. I'm off to buy some more spot weld drills in the morning as the old one is getting past its best so I can remove the remnants. Quite a lot of small bits need repaired on this side before I can weld in the new steel. I was pleased that although the front section appeared quite heavily rusted it cleaned up quite well and I was able to give it a coat of weld through primer to protect it. There is a lot more cleaning up needed though

I'm amazed how you can do weld in repairs that just disappear. I have to cover everything with a layer of filler!

Day off on Boxing day but I got some more done today Firstly I made a cardboard template and then the steel piece above. To replace the bit above. I removed this bit then which helped give me access to weld a bit easier. Then welded the section above in next. Then I added the fold on the end. This will be spot welded to the other inner wing / bulkhead panels later. This is how it looks now. Still a few holes to fill! Looks like the large section on the inner wing is the next job for Monday

Progress has been very slow but I have been chipping away at the bulkhead repairs: Ended up with a hole like this. Think I have finally got the rot out! I removed what was left of the flange and cleaned and zinc primered the area. First repair piece in place. It is still oversize here. Got the next two pieces in place today. It is a lot stronger now although I still have some more welding and grinding to do... It is not the easiest place to get the welder in to and as the original metal is so thin it is pretty difficult to weld it neatly without blowing holes. It is actually not seen when the car is back together, but still I would like to get it as neat as I can Hope to get more done on Boxing day.

Thanks for the offer but actually I do. Believe it or not it came up on Italian ebay just after I bought the car even though it was in English. It was a lucky find too as it is NOS and in more or less perfect condition.
Don't suppose you have or know where there are any other Fiat 130 parts?
