Nice neat hole you've cut Its the only way to do it. Keep cutting until you are back to solid steel and weld in the new! Keep at it ;D

Bargain price considering all the nice bits it has on it. Just get the shell solid and you will be fine. Looks nice in that shade.

My thinking with the stainless hoses is fit and forget. I like good brakes on a car so I'm hoping to overhaul everything on the braking system. Some of the suspension bushes look pretty well used (not suprising as they are probably 37 years old!) So if I drop the suspension and do them that should help improve the ride and handling.

Lovely example of this great car. My old E28 was only a 520i but I still loved it.

The early cars shared the calipers with big Renaults I think but the later ones like mine appear to be unique to the Fiat 130!

Got the offer of getting some custom stainless braided brake hoses made for the old girl yesterday. So today I started removing them ready for them to use as patterns. One pair of front hoses removed. Rear brake hose..... and A centre hose. I also removed the front calipers from the car. Although working they really need re-building as the dust seals are totally missing and the pistons show signs of corrosion. The seals in one look to be going too as the fluid on one side was pretty black. Of course no parts seem to be available so it's another custom job I also took a look at the lower inner wing section. After an attack with the wire brush on the grinder it looked like this More welding to do I was considering removing the suspension to give it an overhaul and polybush it (more custom work!) Looking at this I think it is now pretty much a certainty A job for the Christmas holidays I think

I go for stonechip then body colour. I then protect it with lots of clear Waxoyl. This protects it I feel but also allows you to see the finish and body colour underneath. You can steam clean it and re-apply if you wish and I also think it makes it easy to see any problems that are appearing so you can deal with them early.
By the way the battery tray looks awesome!

Definitely making good progress. I hope the back is better so you get finished quicker. Who is painting it?

Other things have stopped me getting much more done but: Started doing a bit of cleaning up. Master cylinder resevoirs first: Look a bit different to the pic above Also removed a relay cover and cleaned it: Came up quite well. That was all I got done today really. I ended up checking my cars for antifreeze and also stripped an old engine I had down as I have a plan to use some bits off it to build up a 1600 T/C engine I have in the garage at home ;D

Add a link to my Fiat 130 restoration on the bottom of all my posts?
I've seen that a lot of people have a link to their readers rides thread at the bottom of their posts.
I'm struggling to work out how it is done!
Can anybody explain this to me please!

The pic I posted is actually before I started the restoration! As you can see it looked quite sound from a distance! To be fair the rot is/was fairly localised but the rotten areas are well rotten!

Welcome to the site. Amongst my project I have this: You can see lots more photos of my restoration at: www.dropshots.com/300selman If you need any help or advice let me know. I have a pair of outer sills for your car I think made by Hadrian Panels.

Great work as always. I think the quality will be better if you make a new battery tray! More details on the shot blaster please, looks like it has done a great job!
