No welding done today but some stripping down to make areas more accessible. Brake servo and master cylinder removed first. The offending parts..... Then removed the fluid reservoirs which are ripe for a clean. As can be seen here! Also removed the wiper motor and mechanism which turned out to be fortuitous as it looks like some of the pivots are pretty stiff with standing I have brought most of these bits home with me and the plan is to do a bit on them each evening in the garage at home so they are ready to refit when the car is done. I will detail the progress here.

Small update today. Firstly some good news! Between Wednesday and today the roofer came and fixed the slipped slates on the lock up roof. Dry at last Removed yet more metal from the bulkhead area but I'm now nearly ready to start welding in new (zintec) steel Then set about removing the wiring loom from this side into the car to create more space. This included the wiring for the LPG conversion which I'm going to rewire anyway. Tomorrow I hope to get the brake sevo and master cylinder removed as well to create more space. This started off as a 'rolling restoration' but it's fast becoming a full strip and restore job. This looks like it will now include stripping and repainting the entire engine bay

Nice. I see you are a Mercedes Benz Club member too. I have a W109 but it is a restoration project.

Not really an update but I did clean up a few NOS parts I have managed to find for the old girl. First a new pair of wiper arms. Before and after pics. And a new pair of rear lights cleaned up. I look forward to the day when I can start to fit these nice new items

The chance would be a fine thing! Actually I did have 1 lucky find of some better secondhand doors but I decided to repair the originals. NOS panels seem to be virtually non existant even in Italy.

Been away for a week but finally got to do some more this afternoon as I was not at work ;D Slight disaster as all the torrential rain had dislodged a roofing slate and we had a little flood First job was to remove the surface rust from the bottom of the repaired door and give it a coat of etch primer for protection: Next I carried on with the drivers side inner wing continuing to remove the previous repairs I was not happy with: The area was cleaned up and the first bit of rust cut out. The number of pieces of metal on top of each other was ridiculous! I have now ended up with this There is still more metal to remove but I'm getting there. Thanks to the way the previous repairs were done it is going to be a bit tricky I think. I cleaned up the bottom of the door pillar but I think it may need a bit of work down here too Finally I gave the bare areas a coat of etch primer to give it some protection!

Looking good. Must get a steel ruler like yours to measure angles acurately instead of guessing!

Lucky you can get a new one though. That definitely makes the job quicker and simpler to do it to original quality.

Yes, I own the doors and front and rear screens as from about a year ago. I think I will end up with the front wings too!

Small update without photos as I forgot the camera!!
Removed the sound deadening from the drivers side front floor this afternoon. Took absolutely ages! This also necesitated the removal of the steering column and pedals, so the interior is now just about fully stripped! Hopefully will have some photos of the rot in the bulkhead area soon!

Just found the rear arch repair section. Missed that before! That was great and seeing the shrinker/stretcher you have was useful too. Now I must save up and invest in one. Also ordered some of that zintec sheet today from my local supplier. Will be here Monday. I'm going to use that all the time from now on!
