danc, you've mentioned buying a Fiero and getting naughty with its engine. This proposition is by far the most RR one, so go ahead and do it. It'll make for a good read! Oh and we won't hate you if you sell the project halfway through to finally buy a Pantera like you should have from before the start. Just as long as you give everyone a ride up the hill at RRG, we're good. I believe people are beginning to LS swap them in the states! That could make for a very cool car!

Just caught up with the thread. Excellent work. I especially like the work you're putting into the Cologne. I think its a far more interesting engine choice than the standard V8 swap, even if it is a tad more work and expense.

Front suspension arms can go (there's 8 of them) but the parts are fairly inexpensive I bought a full set of Febi ones for around the £180 mark.
The plenum drains can get blocked and fill the ecu and fuse box with water and it can also run down onto the back of the brake pedal and cause it to go into limp mode.
Got no idea of any problems with the Quattro system or the 20vT engine as I had a 2wd Diesel. One of if not the best daily I've ever had.

Surely this was built long enough ago to fall outside of the IVA/BIVA thing? Not totally au fait with it all so may be wrong.
However I really do like it in a strange way!

Front Speakers are 3.5" I've cut the holes in the dash and fitted 4" because I could get better quality speakers for less money.

I too am a fan of the 75/ZT. My uncle had a diesel ione which he did 100k in before handing to me and my brother on 240k. Still ran well. In the time he had it we replaced both the diesel pumps (replaced the in tank one with a 306 diesel one) and the ECU had to be replaced as the plenum drains got blocked and flooded it and we unplugged the MAF which are a weak point.
The problem that finished it off for him was the clutch slave cylinder going and leaking the fluid out causing the clutch pedal to sink to the floor. We just kept topping it up and drove it until we sold it on ebay.
They seem to have a good enthusiast following which means most of the common problems have had fixes devised and lots of how to guides, like the aforementioned 306 diesel pump.
I would seriously consider a ZT-T CDTI if I needed a bigger daily.

The pull out seats in these things are awesome, I have considered them a few times. Are these effectively the same as the MK2 caddy van/seat inca? No they're based on the Felicia whereas the Inca and Caddy van are based on the VW 6k chassis. Confusingly though they did sell a rebadged version of the Skoda Pickup as a VW Caddy

I've ran Nankang NS-2's a few times. Always been happy with them.
That said I always buy part worns now from my very local very good part worn tyre place. Means I can always run a decent brand on my daily. Got 4 matching continentals!

We had SMARTs as pool cars at work. I flipping loved them. Great fun to drive. I may consider getting one in the next couple of years as we may need a cheap commuter car.

That wheel looks really fantastic!
I've been looking at TS cup pictures and following my previous statement I'm not sure they actually do run that much lower than you. A lot of their lows seem to come from 13's and the arch extensions/chin splitter.

Can you not copy the whole suspension setup from the Racers in Japan? They seem to run a lot lower presumably without as many issues?
Good to see it being used though! Bet you're happy to be out and about in it?

I've never been a massive fan of this kind of car, so it'll be interesting to see what you do with it.
What are your plans?

I wanted to start a thread on these a while back, but I'm funndmentaly lazy and forgot.
They seem a decent idea and price and with the brief google research I did, people seemed to like them.

For a while one of my fantasy builds has been an SD1 with a BMW straight 6. Base it on a 2300 and use an M52 with M50 manifold and it would be more powerful than a RV8 and the smooth straight 6 power would suit it really well.
Saying that a 1UFZE would be a fantastic choice, and fairly inexpensive for a donor.
