Bought these fiberglass seats 2nd hand from Ebay with CRX in mind, even though I'm not such a fan of the red bits, Shape & relative light-weight appeal.. Thick fiberglass & the mountings supplied with them new show someone was overly worried about making sure they met regulations & or lazy designers when steel plates were welded together to 15mm thick @ mounting areas! Tested out Civic frt guards on the CRX given the scarcity of CRX parts. Obviously they may fit.. though Civic corner light must be used & obvious 10-15mm gap to bumper I can make a trim piece to fill. Kit covers slightly different bottom rear tip. The Civic wheel arch flare is also a little more tightly defined where the CRX is softer. I also got these '02 Civic 15" alloy wheels I think I like most upon it: even if someone has fitted overly high-profile tyres to them highlighting the too low ride height provided by cut springs. .. If only the morons had stopped there.. They must have been worried about body structure contacting tyres, so attacked that with the angle grinder as well....

Sorry this thread is still many months behind; the next related event was a shocker.
It was about this time I randomly gave my friend (from high school) with the '91 Civic a call for a general natter & see how he was getting on with plans to put his back on the road after it had been sidelined by a Discovery for some off-road fun (& inevitable maintenance that required), not to mention marriage & a baby... Next day he went for a bicycle ride & didn't return. Found the following day with bicycle, dead in a creek pond at the bottom of hill by the cycling track. Indeterminably attributed to a possible combination of heart problem, steep hill, bollards, pond & clip-on shoes. Leaving wife & 8mth daughter.

Oh, got some pictures up of my sad CRX since last time, so better add them here: Obviously attention required. Still haven't managed to get it running though it hasn't been a priority, but at least the 13" Corolla wheels & aftermarket wheel covers are gone. Original Tail light damaged & not so easy to find so bought some tacky Altezza lights cheaply last month to experiment upon & try & make look respectable...

What was flat on the BX goes curvy on the Tigra! Sad to see the work & effort required but good to see the dedication, progress & quality.

Probably too subtle for you, Though in good condition these colours can have beautiful iridescent peppermint qualitys.

Must have very small/thin trees where the 'log' manifold nickname originated! Though certainly the most basic manifolds possible. I thought all our sixes got the bonnet bulge to clear the Falcon air cleaner. Glad to see the progress.

Would it be better to get the later TF Cortina/ XE Falcon alloy head. Alloy heads would usually have hardened valve seats better suited to unleaded fuel so long as octane / compression ratio are appropriate & alloy also conducts heat better also reducing detonation.

Saddle was the dark/mid brown, with Parchment creamy beige vinyl, have one with Black too. Top spec XLE went tastelessly overboard with weird cloth vinyl combinations, vinyl roof, side rub strips & the body coloured hubcaps . Aside from the vinyl roof Ford also offered an off-white painted roof option early on, & even a bench seat with floor shift. TC XL with GS frt fender stripes( the Ebay pic. has a bad copy), painted roof & early option wheel covers in Mulberry, Calypso green or Cosmic blue my favorite. uniquecarsandparts.com/brochures_ford_cortina_tc.htmI don't think our TE/TF front suspension could be directly fitted to other cars as Ford revised the front rails to suit. Their vented frt brakes should be used but there must be better options if you wanted larger wheels anyway.

Plenty of potential there, & the wagons would be so much rarer than sedans now. Why on earth did these attract brown so well!? I collected 4 in the mid 90's when people were dumping them on-mass (didn't manage to get a really good one), & 2 were metallic brown & another had been painted brown from gold!
Love the Mulberry & a 'parchment' interior would contrast nicely, 'saddle' unexpected. Looks like XL trim with the chrome window trims which I found made for a shocking improvement over the base L with the extra sound deadening & ctr console. Thought '74 very early for the TD facelift, though the (raised) frt suspension certainly looks high enough for TD. Assume it lost the ugly stick-on rubstrips with the repaint. Love the early sloping dash & anodized alloy grille before the facelift. Not a fan of the Falcon six personally but I made sure to get the revised (late '72-), body with the notched firewall in case I wanted to move the 4 back further. Shame import duties & costs killed the v6 here against the local straight 6, but certainly plenty of torque & it dominated sales, even though a workmate described his as either under-steering or over-steering with little in-between. Our mk4/5 (TE/TF) also had revised frt suspension to eliminate the frt subframe & put the upr A-arms above the frame rails for more suspension travel after early (low) TC were cracking their reinforced sub-frames bottoming out under the weight of the 6. So TD/late mk3 raised the suspension 2-3" & reinforced the frt rails as a stop-gap. Plenty of dirt roads still in the '70s apparently.

Great to hear of the progress/achievement of getting it on the road! Love the restrained contrast of the wheel refurb. Seeing the rubberless chrome old bumper reminds me I still want de-rubber some of my cars bumpers though.

Kerosene? Softens/dissolves & doesn't evaporate like thinners. Messy. Though you can brush it on & let it soak in to scrape off softened layers later. Clean up with more on a rag after.

The seam sealer at the bottom corners of the windscreen was definately past its best, so was dug out & the seam welded on both sides. And the front side structural reinforcement looks like it was badly assembled from factory with the bottom edge not meeting up to the structure behind properly with some spot welds missed as a result. So the welds along the lower edge were drilled out, the egde pushed up to the intended location & re welded, smoothed & polyurethane sealer was applied to the seams, followed by black polyurethane paint (brush on POR style). Unfortunately they don't offer the paint in white anymore which is frustrating so stalled me over the winter. Bought some more cheap wheel options when seen given the CRX desperately needs ridding of the horrid hub caps & 13"s. '89 Prelude & aftermarket. Also bid on & "won" some TSW 15" Hockenheim alloys & only realized after I got them home that they were the same wheels my friend has on his! :\

So, well before the other additions to the drive I got stuck into '88 properly. Replaced the timing belt, & removed the frt panels of the car to assess state of affairs given the horrible paint & panel fit of the front of the car. Unbolted odds & ends & pressure washed it to reveal the worst though damage was obvious Upper radiator/headlight structure and been replaced before & damaged a second time; paint flaking readily from the bent areas with a lack of adhesion/paint prep to the replaced panels. Though the damage itself was pretty mild & the flimsy structure easily bent to more appropriate position. Real damage was to the lower radiator support, though the Rad & especially A/C condenser are not pretty either. & that structure is actually supposed to be bowed outward! Box section makes it rather strong. So bent front portion spotwelds drilled & area cut off to make straightening easier. Bent bit Bashed straight again & welded back on.
