Mercedes E270 CDI Avantgarde W211 Rather expensive car when out, good spec overall. I'd say this car is aimed at business men, people in a rush. Even the cars ideal market is people who's on the road, it doesn't even have one cup holder in the front of the car, really, really annoying when you're in a rush. there was an option for one that comes out the storage unit on the centre console. you can buy them on ebay

Would love to drop it. I think I'm going to get it moted and go from there. Its a little project for me. I'm not in it to make money as it would be impossible but i just want it back on the road to enjoy or someone else to enjoy. Heres how i got on tonight. Boot floor spotless now. floor pan now clean, no rust. Carpet in Rear seats now cleaned, were brown! A quick look underneath, all good except for the o/s/f sill And boot floor area, all light corrosion, axle has alot but they always do. Starts great now and moves around with lights And finally need to get this old girl into action, new welding wire, not a problem, small gas bottle from halfords=expensive. Will.

Well I'm growing more attached to this little car even though i keep finding more rust (fortunately i have a welder so I'm not too fussed). Haven't spent any time on it but will soon. I keep calling it 'it' as havent found a name or gender yet but watch this space.

Looks brilliant. Alot more red in colour than mine, has it had a re-spray? Mines more orangey red than red.

Yes another Renault 5 on here Nice to see a Rio too - rare special edition, there's only 5-6 left on the road. Here's my TL Rio for example; Yours looks great and how i would like mine to look but at the minute I'm going to tidy it up and service everything and fit tyres to it as they have perished. Will update. If the weather is good tonight i will refit the interior.

Hello everyone Not posted alot on here but thought i would start a thread on my accidental purchace of this Renault 5. Alot of you may have seen it for sale on ebay and i missed out on the final bid so emailed saying if the sale doesnt go through i will have it! Well i never thought anything of it and didnt really need another car as i have 3 sd1's (one of which is 90% restored and just needs putting together) and 5 other cars so as you can imagine it was a silly Saturday night question that i never expected anything to come of it. So.....a week or two later got a phone call saying the no responce from the winning bidder am i interested so after persuading my wife that i should buy it off we went. Well its a 1 owner 36k mile car i was a bit dissapointed to be honest, off the road for 13 years in a poor garage had taken its toll but being me and a hoarder of anything motorised i said i will have it. So this is where I'm at. Car in its found state: The key snapped off in the ignition when the owner switched it off so bought a clio and left the car in the garage! I got it home, assessed the car and found 4 places it requires for welding, behind the headlamps, n/s/r sill end and windscreen panel. Got her running (sounds lovely) and even started machine polishing the body. Stripped the disgusting interior out and pressure washed it. Need advise please as where to go with this one. Its a lovely little thing and could see myself driving it but not sure at the moment. It needs 4 wheels/tyres and i will give it a full service. This is what I've done so far. Stripped interior/cleaned. machine polished bonnet n/s/f wing I would like to keep the car, but need advice if i can make it retro enough on a budget so steel wheels and lower it and thats about it. Its a 950cc and 6 registered on the road. Its not worth much but like its low mileage. Even have original bill of sale. Cheers. Will.

That austin would be perfect but the wrong time but definitely a car I would consider. the marina or A40 also, yes I guess its more classic I'm after but would give it the retro rides treatment and most probably modernise brakes etc. Mr2s are too new for me although I do agree with you they handle exceptionally well. I hoping to sell my st200 next month so if she sells I will be having a good look at the cars mentioned.

welding is a good question and something I should have mentioned, yes I can quite happily weld but as long as its not a full resto haha. mg's and beetles a pass for now, minor or a40? and mercs? I see enough and have had enough as I work for them however I would have another 190e 2.6 but I wouldnt get one for my budget

As the title. I will be looking for a proper retro classic car when ive sold my mondeo st220 (big regret but I don't use her). I currently have 3 sd1's, a couple of modern audis and a van. I really have an itch for a morris minor, I'm a mechanic, have had sooooo many 80's onwards cars I cant even remember. So is a morris minor the best pre 80's car? or can anyone persuade me towards something else?

watching this thread with great interest as I'm looking for a moggy after ive downsized my collection a little bit (wifes orders quote 'the drive looks like a garage forecourt'). Always wanted one since forever and thought of putting a diesel 1.9 audi engine in one but decided no, leave it as it is. good luck with yours and hopefully I will find my dream one soon.
