Personally, I'd whack the casting in the lathe (or the mill), machine the old fitting out and the end of the casting flat, tap it appropriately and then use a banjo fitting to get the 90 degree outlet in such a way as it cn go exactly where you need it.
But the methods listed so far will all work fine.

As it's over 40 years old, and as long as you don't carry any load, you can legaly drive it without an MOT anywsy can't you? Does the forty year thing apply to HGV? No, the forty years exemption is only for stuff under 3.5 tonnes. HGVs manufactured before 1960 get an exemption if unladen, but carrying the Healey would constitute running laden.

Your “pump in time with the indicators” is likely to be an earthing issue. Particularly if either/both of them use modern electronic relays which are very sensitive. Just the dirty/greasy contacts in my Land-Rover’s indicator switch is enough to give the relay palpitations from time to time.

Have you got a traditional dynamo and control box? If so, it’ll be one of the internal coils/contacts sticking.

I was always impressed with the Rover P4’s interlocking for the overdrive.
None of this “just flicking a switch” and letting it slur in or out like most cars, no, there’s a pair of throttle position inhibitor microswitches, a switch to make sure you’re in 4th gear, and another under the throttle pedal.
If you’re on the power in top, and you switch in the overdrive, it won’t engage until you back off, to ensure a smooth shift.
Likewise, if you’re on the overrun and switch out, it won’t disengage until you apply some throttle.
If you’re cruising in O/D and floor it, it’ll drop out of overdrive automatically and hold straight 4th until you back off, when it’ll drop back into overdrive again.
For a totally analogue system of relays, switches and sprung levers, on a car with its technology rooted in the 1930s, it’s a lovely touch and adds a lot to the driving experience.

I run the heater in my Land-Rover permanently open. Even on a hot day it’s not a problem.

Silver paint works well, as does foil.
I’ve used the little tin trays that jam tarts and individual pies come in to good effect in the past.

Wow. That’s not good.
You need to work out exactly what caused it, because you definitely don’t want it happening again.

Yes, don’t stop. If you did then I’d have nobody to offload my rubbish pass my long hoarded and hard to find parts on to.

That’s a good idea. Even if you only connect it to the “main” compressor with a hose as and when it’s needed.
My compressor’s motor exploded its capacitor a couple of years ago. We tend to forget how long we have had some of our kit, or at least I do. It had probably done 25 years worth of amateur level work, which isn’t bad all things considered.

I remeber getting Bryan & Son to recore the radiator for my Reliant over 30 years ago. Good to hear they're still going strong.
