Looking good I like the colour choice. I'd be tempted to lose the vinyl on the c pillar and do them body colour it would look ace. Thanks. I prefer the factory vinyl, without it they look a bit bland IMO plus it should tie the black roof in nicely (hopefully) Last couple of days were spent stripping the shell down ready for final prep, just leaves me the remaining doors to prep, then I can start priming bits, and hopefully get some paint on before winter sets in!

I've never been a huge fan of the big Vauxhall/Opels. Until now that is. That is a lovely bit of kit, will keep an eye open for it around the locality, pity it's a bit too new for CCOTP, otherwise I'd have had a drool over it there.

Yeah it did look good in the blue, it's a good colour for Dollys I think. I sometimes think the rear lights are just too afterthought, but others think they're spot on, if only Triumph had facelifted the rear end like Michelotti proposed we'd be laughing! I wonder how hard it would be to get some TR6 units to fit?

Not sure about the Escort units. Have you seen the red one with Chevette lights fitted? I did notice a V8 Aston rear units have the same layout as the Dolomite...

I must apologise for being slack, but have been otherwise occupied over the last few weeks, although have managed to get a bit done now and again. I've also binned the idea of a vinyl roof, so had the paint I applied to it to sort again, I won't bore with the details of sanding etc, I'll let the photos show current state of play. Door is as good as new along the bottom, but rusty along the top, makes a change from the other way round I suppose. Lights etc been refitted to take in a couple of events, once the last 3 doors have been stripped and primed, I'll rub the lot down, shoot on a couple of all over coats of primer, then start on the top coats .

Sanding down has continued on and off, and the front end is just about ready to be primered up. I'm now toying with not bothering with a vinyl roof and just painting it black, possibly metallic??? Nice to find that the front panel is 99% metal, as are the wheel arches, so I think a good coating of wax proofing will be in order once it's all painted will be in order to tery and keep it that way. Will move onto the doors next, but seeing as it's just a couple of bolts holding them on, it'd be rude not to do them on the bench. Rear door cards are off, one looks good in there, other has a nice coating of rust, which may be the cause of the blisters on the outside, suppose we'll find out soon enough. Anyway, money shots Main reason for the full respray

If I stay with BL it will be Blaze but as you say, Signal Orange from Ford is the alternative

Looks good! Done a few bits to get things sorted, stripped the roof back to get rid of the rust, so bodywork is progressing slowly. Have also finally decided on colour it's going. It'll be orange then.

Now there's a name I've not seen for a while! I'm also tempted with Vermillion, but it's not too different to what's already on there. Blaze is another fab BL colour, unlike limeflower, applejack hearing aid beige lol.

Pageant blue is tempting, but it's pretty much the same colour my PI before this was I've had a play with various colours in photoshop, it looks quite good in Focus ST Orange, but I think something in keeping with the period would be better than a modern metallic colour.

So, my retro, a 72 Dolomite 1850 auto, it's a running project as and when funds, time, and health allow. Originally brown, and manual, it's currently red and auto. Auto box suits it well, and it can still embarrass a few moderns without trying. It's easier to let the pics do the talking so, As bought There's something about a Triumph dash that shouts sporting class I used it as was until Christmas where it decided it didn't like the water seals in the pump and preferred it's coolant on the outside, combined with a house move, it ended up taking a back seat for 5 months or so, but it's getting there now. Couple of obvious additions, along with the Sprint lip spoiler Not immediately obvious, but a latter steering wheel, as it's slightly smaller and with a thicker rim, so much nicer to use than the thinner rimmed one. Did try the MGF alloys I had on it, but decided the Sprint alloys are more in keeping Delightful under bonnet view so work commences to sort water pump and tidy that mess up a bit. Next job is the bodywork, as despite a recent prep and respray, it's scabbing up on virtually every panel including the roof, so it's not going to be a quick sort and blend the repair in, it's going to pretty much need another full respray. What it looked like when the guy I bought it from first had it and what it's breaking out in all over So if it's going to need fresh paint, I'm debating on a colour change, I quite fancy Triumph Magenta on it, even though it was only offered on the Sprint and in 1974, I'm hardly a sucker for originality! Mind, that would probably entail an interior swap from tan to black too. Thoughts?
