The PAO does have rear belts but they're only lap belts. However, there is reinforcement in the C-pillar for an upper mount. You just have to measure carefully and drill a hole in the right place. ^Insert osbscene words^ but appreciate the heads up, hadn't actually got as far as checking that... probably should have since belts are a real must have, perhaps more research to see how easy it would be

Interesting challenge. Sounds like the sort of car my wife would like, so I will list a few. Suzuki Jimny (actually anything suzuki) Ford Puma? (If you can find a rust free one) Ford KA (Maybe a bit small but quite fun to drive, again rust) Renault Clio is great fun but I find the seats quite high BMW mini (really quite good, especially the mk1) VW Beetle (I wouldn't personally, but its in budget) Mk1 Audi TT Audi A2 (My choice of the bunch) We are considering an A2 as my wifes regular car TT is a really good option, hadn't considered but the rear seats could be interesting to fit a car seat... wife likes them though I really like the clios, I think you can get quite a lot for the money too

I was going to suggest my ignis but too much and probably too modern any way z11 nissan cube - square in the shape sense of the world but far from square in the dull sense IMHO. Again too modern though? nothing like a pao but there's been a couple of tidy mk3 fiestas listed here recently which would probably be nice and maintenance free. Geordie 's recent nissan prairie reminded me of how much i used to like those but think he sold it on now. k10 / k11 micra? did the excellent condition metro advertised on here recently sell? The cube could work, handed really considered that tbh, as with a Metro K10 Micra would be considered too boxy, but a K11 could also work I have had more than my fair share of Fiestas in almost every model, so I will probably avoid that in the search of something different.

Morning all,
Considering parting with the Hillman Minx... looking for slightly younger model, something with seatbelts so that I can take my son to car meets. I know I could add seatbelts to the Hillman, but it simplest isn't the best option for me at the moment.
The Nissan Pao seems to tick all of the boxes, but looking for other ideas if I can't find one
Not to square (Wifes request) Seatbetls Heater would be nice Sub £3000 Doesn't need to be fast
What would you go for?

I have become one of those people...
The car is sitting on the drive... doing nothing, and nothing will happen for a while as well. So I pulled the car out of the garage and planned to refit the screen. I just haven't got to this, the other day I accepted that I realistically wouldn't find the time to do it for a while and felt that the screen was a two person job, with lockdowns and an almost 6 month old now perhaps isn't the time to rush it. I considered selling it again... but I'm not sure I can part with it.
I don't have a load of spare money to throw at it... so out came the bathroom sealant. I'm not proud of this, but I managed to seal it up pretty well. It doesn't look particularly nice, but it will do. I have also filled the footwell with cat litter and will change out as required to soak up any moisture.
So for now the car is sat on the driveway. It needs a couple small parts on the engine (thermostat housing and a thermostat) and a bit of a carb setup. The springs are on and ready to go. The only other small job is the ignition, which is currently dismantled awaiting soldering... which again can wait until next summer.
... I never understood how cars could simply be left on their driveway uncovered, with no signs of progress. And definitely never thought I would be "One of those people".

After waiting a couple of weeks for delivery the new windscreen seal has arrived, the screen is in good shape and the surround seems sound
Now do I change the seal or pay someone to do it... rough quotes I have range from about £120 to £300
What would you do? I have done mini screens before, but I knew if it broke I could easily get another... I have seen one for sale for not a lot of money but would involve a 4 hour round-trip

A few more bits started today, the washer needed a one way valve and I've found the issue with the side lights... A faulty switch, I'll swap that out and replace the washer pipes whilst

Turns out the tyre was on the wrong way! Good spot!
Exhaust fitted, it leaks a bit but that was without any exhaust paste, so I'll take a closer look at that
Next problem is the car is overheating... I've not checked the plugs yet but may be a fuel mixture issue as I think a lean mix will cause the exhaust to get extremely hot too... Which it did

Looks like Nankang tyres, they are asymmetrical, the sidewalls will be marked Outside & Inside, is the one nearest camera on the correct way around? Good question... I assumed so... But will take a look today

Getting this thing back on the road again, needed the exhaust sorted, a bit more air in the tyre and a some new headlights... got one part done at least Waiting on another part for the exhaust (arrived at work today) so I will grab that tomorrow and hopefully have it fitted shortly after

Washed the Hillman and the daily this evening, it had gone so dull, so a bit of T-cut will bring it up

i remember these from when i was a kid, centre parcs used to have some on there cycle hire in the early 90,s. hired one for a few days when we stayed there and they are great fun for about an hour then you get fed up of not really being able to go anywhere other than smooth tarmac as they tip forward at the first sight of any gravel. takes a bit of getting used to to turn them as you have to lean slightly forward and to the side you want to turn if i remember rightly. worth getting going for laughs though. This sums it up, I got it moving freely, air in the tire. Fitted some longboard wheels and we messed about with it for an afternoon... then it went to the shed where it has stayed ever since!

Since I haven't added any images for quite some time, I topped up the clutch master yesterday and got it back to the house. Not sure if you can see from the pictures but I have replaced the rear leaf springs so it sits a little better now, the springs were shot! Turns out the garage I had to keep it dry over the winter was damp... so the interior was mouldy. The garage will be going, the main reason I kept it in the garage is because the front windscreen seal is gone, but it would make more sense just to replace that! Glad to have it back on the driveway now, albeit covered in a thin layer of cob webs, it needs a good polish but since it hasn't really been anywhere for almost year I will give it a full once over before I take it out anywhere. I have the seal kit now for the clutch master cylinder so will give it a go, we did it once before (I think) the first time around

I'll upload a picture when I've on the computer next, but got the car running today, it has been large left abandoned over the last year with lots of work on the new house.
Starts and runs okay but it has an issue with the master cylinder leaking... I'll top it up and get it back to the driveway anyway
