Fortunately just the roof and a sheet down the back of the shed, it was a mix of 3ft and 6 ft with a single 10ft sheet as well... as far as the covered area it is about 3 metres by 2 metres
The asbestos company said that it was slightly smaller than a single garage, with his pricing for a single garage at £850

We had the rat problem sorted with some tasty treats for them and a couple traps, they like the treats, but the traps were fairly ineffective. Part of the problem was a hole in the roof of the kitchen and a shed for our little friends to live. The shed was filled to the brim with wood... like pianos, garden fences, doors basically anything that could be burned and some stuff that really shouldn't was in that shed, it had some woodworm and signs of rodents, plus some dodgy wiring, so I isolated the wiring, emptied the wood... creating a wood mountain in the garden. At this point, I had thought about removing the asbestos myself, but I have to be honest, I would probably spend the next 5 years worrying that I would probably die from asbestos inhalation... so I paid someone to do it... as a guide removal quotes came in at quite a few different prices... from £180 which was less than it would cost to get rid of it correctly!!! Needless to say we didn't go for this option, to another company that wanted over £2000! In the end we paid around £500, they came removed the roof and disposed correctly with all correct documentation... so I was happy. Once it was off, the shed came apart pretty easily. I then started looking at covering up the neighbours shed, so looked at the fencing options, this came in quite expensive... so I made this instead... We are planning on opening up the area a bit more replacing the step, adding an outdoor socket and perhaps some lighting or something

I have always spend time working on cars, but living in a rented house was frustrating at times... you want to change something but can't or shouldn't or need to get permission first... so we saved and bought a house
So a bit more on our old house, we lived in a listed 3 storey converted pub function room... it was kinda strange but really quirky. We learnt a lot about what we liked and didn't like and it helped us make the right choice when we came to buy.
We started looking back in October last year and looked at 22 houses... we looked at everything from a 600 year old cottage without foundations and an inglenook fireplace, a run down ex farm workers house and a whole load of other things...
We decided to go for a mid-terraced ex-authority house, it has so much space and appeared to be built pretty well, a large garden for our budget and great location... basically everything we wanted EXCEPT THE GARAGE!
Everything went through smoothly with the exception of a couple of little things on the survey, mostly a little bit of damp and some rodents to discourage...
I've since done a few things to the place and thought it would be good to start a bit of a thread

It has been a busy few months, we purchased a house in January so the car took a back seat... Fast forward a couple months and I got the car out and about to a few breakfast meets at Haynes Motor Museum As we then approached Retro Fundraising kinda time of year the car had a few problems... three in fact... on the same day... within about 5 miles... Doing a quick tip run... couple smaller items and bang... Luckily the tip has a recycle shop, so I bought a reel of wire... bandaged it up for the trip home... two minutes later... At this point, I still don't really know what happened... it started again after a few minutes waiting... so off I go again, another minute and I hear something drop... followed by not being able to use the clutch... Managed to drive it home without a clutch... then as I pulled onto the drive I didn't keep the revs up enough and bam... it stopped, on the path as I headed onto the drive... pushed it on the drive with the help of a neighbour and left it there for a few days. A few days later me and Dad took the exhaust off, measured it up, made a pattern and created a temporary exhaust to get it to the Retro Fundraising show... but despite working in the baking for most of the day... it didn't work, the exhaust was rubbing the brake lines... so I called it a day, packed up and it hasn't been touched since... I will get to remaking the exhaust again soon... but for now it can wait!

Another few months have passed with very little work, I have been making the most of having the car on the road. We are moving next week which should make working on it a bit easier. Giving it a general look over the bodywork is pretty stable, but it needs lots of rubber parts replaced, pretty poor bushes, hoses and seals A bit of a rejuvenation should happen in the first quarter of this year Took it out on for a little drive on New Years Day to a local meet

Daily is sorted for now, a new wheel bearing, rear arm and a few other little bits sorted it to pass MOT. Then the EML came on and I shredded a pair of tyres... long story short, it is holding in there... for now. Less about the daily and more about the Hillman. One thing had annoyed me since getting the car, the rear parcel shelf had a covering of a tartan fabric, it was far to vibrant for the car. Whilst strolling around Beaulieu I came across so leather offcuts, and for about £3 I got a piece that looked about right... and at £3 I didn't mind if it didn't work out. Pulled off the tartan layer and revealed the layer I attached a good few years ago, it looked a little worse for wear so I'm not surprised it had been changed. I have no idea what sort of glue I should use... but a glue stick or two did the job. I'm happy with that a good (enough) colour match.

Not done a lot with the car lately, my daily decided to throw a wobbly and give me the longest list of MOT advisories I have ever seen... ...I have replaced the tyres on the Minx after noticing just how bad they were! I've also found a small leak on the oil filter so I'll do a service and swap the filter out soon

they are great fun for about an hour then you get fed up of not really being able to go anywhere other than smooth tarmac as they tip forward at the first sight of any gravel. I wonder if some re-imagining as a miniature penny farthing trike might make it easier to handle? Steerable front wheel and keep the rear... is an interesting concept...

Just to decide what to do with it now... restore it? Sell it or just race about on it until it breaks...
I'm tempted to go OTT on it, shot blask and powder coat the frame, put a decent set of cranks on it and a metal rear wheel

Went to the local tip shop a couple of weeks ago and picked this up... I had no idea what it is or what I would even do with it... but I knew I had to own it. Got it home, pumped up the flat tyre, and off we go. Spotted this video online as well...

For Sale - £2250 ono - Somerset 1983 Mk1 Popular Plus 1117cc Just over 50,000 miles. 2 Former keepers 13 Months MOT The interior is incredibly clean with the exception of the drivers seat which has worn. The car drives well and has been well looked after. Whilst it is not perfect I feel it wouldn't take much to get it to a really good standard or just drive as is. The car has retained all original features, including the original uncut centre console. The car does not have a radio fitted and nothing has been "messed with". I am confident in the reliability of the car and would be happy driving it a long distance. Selling on behalf of my Dad, he purchased the car in 2010 and has now decided to sell it to focus on his other car (Morris Minor Traveller). Delivery may be possible, dependant on the distance ect. Please PM me any questions

Just read this from the start, brilliant story and beautiful car! Thanks So happy with it, when I got it back I thought it might be good to get loads of little bits fixed and tidied up, but it has so much character that I can't bear to change anything, just keep it mechanically sound and rock solid, more importantly enjoy it!
