Model: Volvo 740 SE

MOT: 14th April 2012
Location: Brough, East Yorkshire
Price: 350 pounds
Additional Information:
I’m putting up for sale my Volvo 740 SE estate. I’ve only had this about 8 months (bought it from another member on here) it’s been really useful but I can’t really justify having 2 cars on the road through the summer and it’s a shame for it to sit around not being used.
Has 4 good tyres, Michelin on the back and Continental on the front. The exhaust is in good condition and the brakes have loads of meat left. There are no knocks or bangs from the suspension and it drives very well. It’s fitted with a Panasonic CD player. Well specced with heated electric mirrors, 4x electric windows, heated seats (drivers doesn’t work but passenger one does), central locking, headlight washers and electric sunroof. Being the 2.0 manual it’s much better on fuel than the larger engine and auto versions.
It’s in excellent mechanical condition and passed its MOT first time with no advisories. The underside is very very clean, with no rot whatsoever. Much cleaner than a lot of 5 year old Fords!
Starts first time everytime (even when it was minus 15 before xmas!) and runs perfectly, I’d have no hesitation in driving this anywhere and I don’t see anything it will need before the next MOT. There’s a reason Volvos have a reputation for solid reliability. If it doesn’t sell then I’ll keep it to use next winter.
Comes with a touch up pen, manual and locking wheelnut key. There are a few bills and MOTs but not a lot of other history. It had an oil change and water pump just before I got it.
There is peeling lacquer on the roof and small bits on the front wing, there’s also a dent in the nearside rear wheelarch and piece of trim missing from the door. There are the usual small dings and scratches as you’d expect at this age. The only rust on the body is a small bubbled bit on the boot lip, even this isn’t brown rust, more a corrosion of the galvanized coating. There are splits in the seams of the drivers and passengers seats but I’ll try to sew these up before the car is sold. The interior is generally very clean and the back seats look like new.
All gauges are fine but the odometer doesn’t work (common Volvo problem), it reads 178k. There’s a sticker on the cambelt cover which shows 169k on 11/7/05. Not sure of current mileage but 200k is nothing for these cars. Uses no oil or water.
There is a crack in the windscreen at the moment, this starts at the bottom in the centre and goes up about half way. For the asking price I will have this replaced with a brand new, professionally fitted screen. This will cost me £100 so if you'd rather have this taken off the price of the car and then either drive it around as is or have the screen done on insurance (usually about £60) then that's fine with me.
Any questions, just ask, I’m around evenings and weekends if you’d like to view.
