Went with Celly paint as it was the cheaper option and being a student ive not got allot of money to spare unfortunatley!, here are some piccys of the work so far, the whole car has been sprayed just need to get it mopped and a good polish so it is shiny, also need a new graphic for the back as bootlid repairs where needed.
The PCD is 101.6 so anything A-series Mini will fit. However, the offset will cause a problem. Most Metro Wheels are +50 and most aftermarket wheels seemed designed for wide arch minis meaning they'll stick out too far. I've been using www.willtheyfit.com/ to work out some calculations on different rims but I'm struggling. These are the ones I really want www.midlandwheels.com/Shop/P-2255-6-x-13-Rally-Special--175/50x13-Yokohama-A048R.html but I think they'll just poke that bit too much. A set of standard Rover Mini Cooper Minilights will fit, however they are not especially original.
I've fitted minilights to mine and had trouble with the centre hub, the centre hole in the wheel wasn't big enough. I've just put 15mm spacers on from north west minis and they look cool, stick out of the arch but not stupidly. I am thinking of deep dish minilights in the future and am told the spacers help with rubbing on the arches
Cool, I'm thinking mini lites or some 4/5 spoke competitves if I can find some in the right size ill add a few day light pictures of the car too, just need the body kit to be sprayed and bumpers fitted back on
Massive step ahead now, ive passed my theory, so abit more work being undertaken, spray/fit body kit, weld 2 more patches, fit the rear sits back in and purchase some alloys, such as revolutions or ronals!
I'm also after the black "metro sport" sticker for the back as boot lid needed repairing, and the two stripes on the door, by the window.
Great to see the progress upon it since I missed the paint & reassembly updates. looks great! Shame the original steel wheels are metrics they could look really interesting painted up imaginatively, dark silver & darker two tone to exaggerate the original style? Can't help but think of the black graphic strips cut from "carbon effect" vinyl film & tinted side indicators to blend with the side protective strips
I would loved to of painted the steels but tryes are hard to get and not very cheap if you can get them, i like the sound of the "carbon effect" ill buy a peice to see how "chavvy" it would look, maybe just nice though, thanks
