I like the idea of a mid-engined MGB - something Italian maybe? Could even go as far as the Beardmore Bros Moggie with a custom chassis!! What about a new lump from one of the new MG's? I don't know what the power outputs are but it could be a neat conversion! Slammed over some nice deep dished alleycats and painted NATO matt olive green - superb! I get bored of seeing MGB's in the retro mags - they just don't do it for me I'm afraid

I know!
The drivetrain from one of the new MG hatchback... A FWD MGB is sure to annoy the duffers! ;D ;D
I have to say that I find the MGB a most unappealing car. I found they are not much fun to drive and are not particularly interesting to look at either. I think they appeal to a lot of people because they are so easy to restore and maintain. I'd much rather have a Datsun Fairlady than a B any day ;D

What's the engine in that RWD Rover 75 V8 thing? It's a 4.6 but I'm sure I've read that it's an american lump, so you must be able to get one out of something else older/cheaper... That would be VERY interesting... ...just done some googling, it's a Ford lump. www.carkeys.co.uk/features/product/2215.asp

If you wanted a mid engined MGB then a lotus Elise should be your donor car. The K-Series is tuneable, the suspension's very good for a track car and is already set up for a mid engine. And I dare say if you look hard enough you'll find plenty of them that have been bought and written off by posing yuppie scum who were unable to handle them properly, so a crash damaged one might turn up in a scrappy. Or maybe a Toyota MR2.
