Unfortunately, I have to sell my newly aquired Passat. I got the car from a mate of mine who has owned it for about 7 years. It is a '96 P plate B5 saloon,1.8 20v in light blue metallic, cloth trim, electric windows, no sunroof, all standard. The car has done just over 120k,but has replacement 1.8 engine, which has approx 80k miles on it. (30k ish since cam belt change)
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I took this car on as a daily driver to bridge a gap until I get round to finishing my T4, it overheated last time my mate drove it, so I fitted a new water pump and thermostat, but unfortunately it still isnt right. I suspect the head gasket has gone, but havent got the time to do anything with it, (aswell as the T4 I've also got a '64 and a '67 beetle in bits  )
The Passat has MOT until the end of March 2012, and has about 5 months tax on it. I could weigh it in and cash in the tax, or break it but I havent got the time, and would rather it went to someone who would appreciate it. The bodywork isnt immaculate but its a 15 year old car. Some thoughtful person has keyed it accross a door, and both rear arches are damaged. The rear door trim has come off on one side, but is in the boot.No major rot to be seen though, still looks tidy enough for a daily/parts chaser. I have seen a few engines for these on ebay for around the £100-£150 mark, so potentially a cheap car for someone with the time to do it.
Anyway, the important bit, the price-
I would like £250 or very near offer, as I could cash in the tax and weigh it in for that kind of figure.
Cheers for reading.Any questions please fire away!!The car is in West Sussex.
