It's that time of year again!
When? Saturday/Sunday 11th/12th June 2011
Where? RAF Abingdon, Oxfordshire. Just off the A34 NW of Abingdon
Abingdon Motorsport CAR-nival started in 1997, since then it has grown into one of the largest and most popular clubman motorsport events in the country. It features an 8-stage tarmac Rally, two Sprints, an AutoSolo and an off-road event.
CAR-nival features an atmosphere that you can almost touch as over 400 competitors combine with 3,000 overnight campers and spectators. It’s a real family event where children can come to watch Mum & Dad ‘play motor racing’. It’s a social affair with some arriving on Friday with their tents and caravans, staying all-weekend.
Predominantly, CAR-nival is about serious motorsport but there is another very important element – Charity. In the last 14 years the organisers have raised in excess of £160,000 for the Army Benevolent Fund and a local charity ‘The Friends of Stowford’
Format:
Friday PM: Gates open for early arrivals.
Saturday: Two Sprint events, plus AutoSolo and Off-Road.
Abingdon Sprint Course:
Bentley Sprint Course:
AutoSolo:
Saturday PM: BBQ, Licensed Bar and comedian in marquee.
Sunday: 8-stage tarmac stage rally.
It's a fantastic weekend, we've competed here ever year since 2004. This year's sabbatical means that we're sidelined, but we'll still be there in the Big Red Bus enjoying it as a social weekend (and one of our fellow competitors is celebrating his 50th Birthday so we've a rather large party planned as well....).
Well worth a look if you've fancied having a closer look at motorsport. If you do come, be sure and pop by and say hello!!
All this for just a minimum donation of £3 per head on the gate. For the entire weekend. Including camping. BARGAIN.
