For sale for a few reasons but nothing sinister,this car is 100% reliable and has pretty much no issues at all.
I regularly use this between Swansea and Aberdeen where I live and work respectively,this is a 1200 mile round trip and I do 600 of them in one hit at 80mph using no oil or water,the car also returns at least 45mpg on this trip and 40+mpg in normal use.
It starts first time everytime,everything works,it runs below 90deg most times but in heavy traffic it correctly climbs to 96 then the fan kicks in and back down to 90,perfect.
It came to me in a roundabout way basically as payment for a job in my old workshop,or non payment if you prefer!!!
It had a big hole in the engine after the sump cracked,elderly lady never noticed and put a piston through the block.
Pointless rebuilding so I sourced a mint 53k mile unit complete with box and ancilliaries out of an identical Corsa that underwent an xe conversion,I've personally serviced the car 3 times since ownership as I do massive mileages with no breakdown cover so I don't want it failing on me in Dumfries at 4am on a Sunday on my way home for 10 days!!!
The miles are a tad antisocial at 123000 and will continue to rise as it's used daily.
Just flew the Mot with only 2 advisories,a slight brake imbalance (18%) and one small bit of corrosion under the rear seats,so minor that I can't even see it!!!
Car has never been welded and that's not bad for a 13year old car.
I did a fair bit of work for the first Mot I put it through,only servicing stuff really but it's proved worthwhile as it flew this one.
I've been to the four corners of the British isles in this and the westernmost point of Ireland,Isle of Lewis in Scotland which is parallel to John 'o' Groats,so it's pretty reliable!!!
Reasons I'm selling?
1.financial,I need to get other things sorted and I now have my bicycle and seriously need to lose some weight!!!
2.a DERV,particularly a van would be great and a deal could be had on one as it perfectly suits my needs.although of course cash is king.
3.I have been offered an amazing deal on a car but I need to sell first for the sake of my relationship as my missus is fed up with opening the curtains too a sea of unfinished projects!!!
Bad points are a bit of rust here and there,bonnet leading edge,it's actually below the main eyeline but is very common on corsas,only surface,no flaking,bit on the drivers rear door bottom corner,few scabs on the drivers door,ironically none on the pass doors?
One bit by rear wiper but no dents or deep scratches and generally very presentable,cleans up really well.
I think I've listed most of the good but it's had in my ownership the following new parts:
Rad
Waterpump
Aux belt
3x oil changes
Plugs
Coolant change
Oil pressure switch
Rocker cover gasket/rocker cover refurbed in very high temp satin black paint.
Battery
Wipers
All cables spray greased,connectors dewatered/electrically cleaned, levels checked
Gearbox oil replaced/refilled
Pads/discs
Lower arm.
One thing I did just remember is there's a crack in the screen but it's passed the last three mots like this.
All in all an exceptionally reliable car,I'd literally drive ANYWHERE in it,and as such will happily deliver this anywhere in Britain for fuel costs and travel home,can't say much fairer than that really?
Maybe a small offer or movement on price but please no insults,I know you can buy them for £3-400 but that usually gets you a k plater with keep fit steering or something that sounds more like a diesel with a rattly timing chain,short tax&ticket.
Remember,this engine fits any 1.2 16v Corsa/agila/meriva up to 2005,check eBay out for the prices,anywhere between £300-600!!!
The epas setup is worth at least a ton as it can be used in all manner of conversions from mk1/2 escorts,golf gti's and so on,you could run this for a few years and make your money back in bits!!!
