Hello there,
Just interested to see what sort of thing can be done with mk3 cortinas?
I know of nightmares racing's estate/van thing, but anything been done with saloons?
I'm sure these have potential, but i cant find anything of any substance on google images.

Then you are not looking! Mk3 Cortinas have been modified since they were new and are made from total win. The Aussies build mental ones. Google for Cortina TC as thats the Oceanic designation.

depends what look you are after here are a few of my old ones its just the van "thing" I do with mk3's ;D This is the sort of thing I'm after! All the pictures ive found they're either riding like a monster truck or the wheels are too big for my tastes. Ive not, as of yet (apart from this image) found a mk3 cortina low enough on the right wheels. I did find this project on ebay which is a nice height: cgi.ebay.co.uk/FORD-CORTINA-MK3-2-8-V6-/190519211060#ht_500wt_1156But thats about it.

the main reason you'll find not many run the 13" wheels is because the mk3's have very larger diameter arches and 13's look out of proportion on them unless they have big baloony tires on them and that's very rarely a good look

I'm lusting after a MKIII My dad had one of the first 2 door 2000GT's as a new company car. He'd ordered a MKII 1600E or Lotus but Ford offered him the MKIII instead as a high mileage user before they were officially released. At the time his company bought a large number of cars from them each year so I think there was some sort of deal for him to assess / clock up miles in real world situations. It came from TC Harrision at Birmingham. All I can remember of the reg was OOJ ***J but it had so many problem he returned it Ford after a year, albeit having done 60,000 miles, so doubt it survives. The bodyshell flexed on acceleration and it then shattered the nearside rear side window. It went though 26, - that's right twenty six, before a solution was found ! Colour was a burgundy red called Garnet and one of my weekend chores was giving the car a full clean insided and out as well as constantly touching up paintwork as it chipped easilly. We had a tin of the paint from the dealer so I painted my push bike same colour! Paul H

there's not many better looking cars than a 2 door mk3 tina in my eyes. it's up there with the A series manta as the best looking retro cars around. decent pictures are hard to come across online though. i want one built like this!

Well the recipe here is pretty simple... 1) Take any Mk3 Cortina (preferably 2-door)... 2) Slip in warmed over Essex V6 engine... 3) Add 'Savage' bulged and vented bonnet... 4) Paint in lurid 1970's colour sceme (Bronze metallic with Tan vinyl roof perhaps?!)... 5) Add re-trimmed Recaro's to the otherwise standard interior (rev' counter optional but probably neccessary)... 6) Lower an inch or two (keep it subtle though!)... 7) Sit on Cosmic alloys or Wolfrace Slotmags... Save for one or two suspension and drive-train mods you've got a c-c-c-corking retro ride there... Good luck on your hunt, a Mk3 Cortina is a pretty much perfect vintage design...!

The best thing about the Mk3 is that you don't *need* to do anything to them to make them look good.

My dad had a mk3 company car too, he got a brand new yellow mk3 and i think he fell asleep at the wheel once, and crashed straight into a lamp post. Needed a new front end, roof, screen etc. He did 100,000 miles in it in the end i think. I'd like a mk3, but i think i'd have to lower it a lot before i liked it . Some nice ones in this topic though.
