I have got some sunny's too, all of which I think are on my website. Oldest is my '67 Datsun 1000. This is the first one to ever be imported and was used by Autocar and Motor in the roadtest of the time and by Datsun in their adverts. I have another 1000 saloon like this which currently is stripped to the shell pending some welding. When that's done I might go for a Sunny ZX twin cam in it as 129hp in a 700kg car should be more than sufficient I also have an estate version of the same model (B10) As well as my 1200 pickup I have a coupe too. I'm having a hard time resisting dropping a turbo motor into this one. Especially as I have a spare CA18DET The only thing that's stopping me from modifying it is that it's probably the best remaining 1200 coupe in the UK. I have onced owned a B210 (Datsun 120Y) which is the next model but I didn't really like it much. I've had three B310's which were the last of the RWD Sunny's and those are great cars, perfect for modifying with plenty of performance potential. As for the later FWD Sunny's, I have only had the ZX's and my B12 estate which I like because it's kind of odd looking. That and it's rust free and cost £75 off of ebay ;D

More stupid than retro is my turbo Prairie ;D Early Prairies go very fast with a Silvia engine dropped in them I discovered and they make the perfect stealth mobile. They are suprisingly aerodynamic for a big box and only weight 1050KG stock. With a stock Silvia turbo engine it could do 0-60 in 6.8 and could top 135mph thanks to the Prairie very tall final drive. Unfortunately it handles like a flymo and driving it fast on a twisty A road is seriously challenging if not life threatening The engine blew up at the end of last year and since then I've started installing a twin cam turbo from a 200SX. This will be modified to run about 230hp and the Prairie is going to be completely stripped out. Then it's going drag racing ;D I will stake money I can get this thing into high 13's eventually. It was it could pretty much keep up with my 510 before and that was with only 135hp. The 510 has run 14.62 and as it was I think estimate the Prairie would have run maybe 15.0. With an exta 100hp and at about 900kg, with the addition of an LSD and sticky rubber I think it will lay down some very suprising times. It's worth the effort just to see the faces of Cossy owners as they get smoked by a Prairie ;D ;D Here's a brief clip of it acceleration to 100mph (camera on the instruments) with the stock Silvia engine... www.ratdat.com/vids/prairie_0_100.MOV

I like these too, shame we never got the saloon version - Sentra, especially the SE-R. Have you seen any personal imports in the UK? I've always found it odd that FTO, MX5, later skylines and Toyota's are the cars seen here, never those nice Infiniti's or oddball mid range Nissans. www.nissanperformancemag.com/may02/charlesmay02.phpThese things shift and handle like a dream. A bit like a mini skyline but more understated. And I've been privilaged enough to have been in that Prarie! Pulls great hand brake turns too ;D

I've always found it odd that FTO, MX5, later skylines and Toyota's are the cars seen here, never those nice Infiniti's or oddball mid range Nissans. I have seen a couple of B12 saloons in the UK. I have no doubt you could get one... just go look for one around Mildenhall or any other USAF base. I don't think the US actually got the SE-R until the B13 came about. There was an SE-R B12 though but it's spec is basically the same as the ZX coupe sold here. We only got the coupe and estate of course. All the ZX running gear will bolt straigt onto the estate. The US did get a 4x4 version of the the B12 estate and of the N13 saloon which must have a stack of potential. There's also a 4x4 version of the Prairie and that cas a CA series engine. So if you can locate a 4x4 Prairie gearbox and a 4x4 B12 or N13, you can make a CA18DET powered 4x4 Sunny...like a GTiR only not so ugly. THe main reason they don't come in as grey imports is that they are not really worth anything so there's little profit in it. It costs the same to ship a ten grand Skyline as it does to ship a £500 Sunny.

I've got a bit of land and a couple of big sheds to store them in. I have got rid of a lot of cars. About 18 months ago I reached 50 car and suddeny realised my car buying was getting a bit out of control Now I have half that which is still too many but I'm finding it hard to let go It varies how many are on the road at any one time but it's usually no more than 6. I have a motor trade insurance policy so I can drive any of them but it gets too costly to tax too many at once. At the moment I have hardly any cars on the road because I've been to lazy to get out there and work on them but once my period of idleness is over I shall get on with it ;D
