service history with recipt of brand new engine fitted at 72,949 miles at a cost of £1862.85p.

just had a service 1 day ago.(new oil,plugs,coolant & fluids)

new airflow meter fitted 12 months ago (from alfa dealers)

bodywork in mint condition with no dint dents or scratches.

paintwork is very good condition with a deep glossy shine as can be seen in the pictures

underside of car is rust free

genuine alfa scudetto front grill

grey velour cloth interior

interior is in mint rip free condition,full electrics and all fully working as alfa intended.

carpets are clean no nasty foot or oil stains as its got original alfa thick carpet floor mats

sunroof model.

sony head unit with cd auto changer in the boot.

What happened to the old engine dude?
As the maths tells us it's due a new one on those odds

don't know the reason why 1st engine was changed,i have seen on ebay and autotrader some cars for sale with engines knocking!
mine runs sweet so no problems on that one.
its a lot of car for the money.

ive seen these with goosed engines going for upto £500,and mines mint and a perfect running engine with exellent bodywork,
ive also just reduced car now to £550 ono

Looks like a nice, original 156 with a decent history too.

It's normally snapped cambelts or low oil that kills twinnies. Alfa changed the belt interval to 36k from 76k a few years into 156 production after a spate of premature failures so maybe this one slipped through the net and ate it's belt.

Do you know when the belt was last changed?

If not it could have been low oil - they use some between services and some owners fail to check even though there's usually a sticker to remind people in the window.

Anyway, it's got a newish lump and it looks good value.

yes its had a new cam belt and a new variator last year so next owner has no worries.
ive kept a eye on the oil level,ive had quite a few of these engines in my old 155,145,147 cars as they do like a small sip of texas gold now and then
i think its a very clean original cheap 156.and a lot of car for the wonga.

you don't need a fiesta for the mrs do you? 2000 reg, 1.25 zetec watsit. does about 45 mpg.

thanks for the offer of the ford but its a cash deal as ive got a alfa 156 3.2 gta sportswagon so thats reason I'm selling this 156,if i could afford to keep this i would

The reason for the engine change almost certainly will have been low engine oil, it does happen an awful lot people just seem to forget.
The service history looks great and the original dealer Platts of Stoke by the looks, Platts did a recon gearbox on my "old" (52 reg) Selespeed, when i had it it was 3 years old and I was gutted but Platts did a great job albeit for £1700.
The other history looks like it's from Burton on trent which is my home town Dave Hill's garage is about a mile from my old house, it looks like it was who replaced the engine.
I must resist......

yes it has been in the stoke area from new with platts being the original dealer.then it was serviced and also the engine change at david hills it also has david hills name on plates and a hills sticker on rear window.

ive had loads of interest in this alfa but no concrete offers guys.
ive been offered a ford cougar,vauxhall vectra,ford fiesta but its a cash deal only.
final reduction as I need space so I can park my other alfa 156 which is a 2005 gta 3.2 sportwagon outside,resricted resident parking system on my road which restricts each household to 1 parking space . if I park 2 cars on my road I get clamped or a fine!!!and wife has to park her golf gt tdi150tdi in our garage,and ive had to leave my 156gta at my workplace till the silver 156 goes.
so ive reduced the price now to £495 ono

so £495 for a car with tax/test full history,in mint condition,
........somebody is going to get a real bargain
