hi, I'm just cross posting this from the classic dailies forum as it looks to be an effing great weekend....
****************************************************
I have organised a classic car related camping weekend over the august bank holiday weekend. There will be a small charge for camping as a friend is allowing tents to be pitched on her farm and it is only fair that she gets something. So I will be charging £10 a night per tent which I think is reasonable. Camping places are limited and are first come first served, but if camping is full you are welcome to join us for the activities anyway. There are also numerous campsites in the vacinity. The farm is located 7 miles outside of the university town of Lampeter in Ceredigion.
Anyway thats the boring stuff out of the way so lets get onto the interesting stuff i,e the weekend itinery.
Friday
There will be no planned activity but you are welcome to arrive in the afternoon if you so wish
Saturday
Cars will be collected in the local church car park (at the end of the farm track ) for a convoy departing at 10am. We will then travel in convoy across country to the museum of internal fire. This is about a 30mins drive. The museum is dedicated to internal combustion stationary engines and really is facinating.
When everybody is quite done we will convoy back to the campsite for a BBQ and few drinks.
Sunday
No early start as I expect a few people to be nursing hangovers . I would like for us to go for a Sunday carvery at a local pub. When I last looked it was £12.95 for a 3 course carvery. The food is execelent and there is enough of it to sink a battleship. After lunch we will be driving in convoy to Llyn Brianne reservior via the Tregaron mountain road. This road is spectacular and should offer some excellent photo oppurtunities. However a word of caution. At this time of year the sheep are out on the mountain, they are not scared of cars and will not neccesarily get out of your way. Please take this into account and drive sensibly.
Bank Holiday Monday
I am planning this to be the main day of the event. I have booked us a stand at the Orllwyn Teifi Vintage Show. This show actually runs on Sunday as well so we could do both days if people want too. Anyway the show is large and well suported. I have linked their website and have entry forms. So if you are coming I will send you one. Again people are welcome to camp Monday night if they desire, but I suspect that most people will head home monday afternoon.
Their are a few ground rules to be aware of.
No smoking in the barns for obvious reasons.
Please pick up litter and use the provided ash trays
Dogs are welcome and the camping area is securely fenced. If you take them out of that area do please keep them on a lead.
Children are welcome.
