A VERY nice 1995 M reg Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 16v SRi Hatchback in red, and it is in red!
The story behind this car is, I buy scrap cars, and I get a call from a prospective customer that wants to sell his Cavalier, but he's not all that keen to see it scrapped.
Engine had killed itself, he had problems with the donor engine, and as a result, the Cavalier ended up being dry stored in a garage for nearly three years!
As per usual, he describes the car as nearly mint condition, I humour him over the phone as thats what they all say.
However, when I got to the car, it was exactly as he described, it is damn near mint condition.
As I like Cavaliers, I ended up taking pity on the car, and told the guy that i'd probably save her, and thats what I did.
I sourced a low mileage 94,000 Calibra, it was cheap, and the engine had not long been serviced with cambelt, oil and the usual bits, but had a running problem.
Replaced the crank sensor, and she ran great.
Other than that, I didn't really have to do much of anything with the Cavalier, because its in such good condition.
She has MOT until June 27th 2012, and to show just how well she was looked after, all she failed on was an eratic idle which meant they couldn't do a emissions test, and the handbrake needed adjusting.
Throttle body was cleaned up, and that was that.
The Calibra also donated its genuine GM catalytic converter as well, no after market curse word on this car.
She is TOTALLY and UTTERLY standard, shes never been modified or screwed around with.
She has: ABS, Alloy Wheels, Central Locking, Electric Front Windows, Sunroof, Electric Mirrors, Front Foglights, GSi style Recaro Front Seats, Drivers Airbag.
Interior is in great condition, no holes in the front seats.
Exterior is in good condition, a few blemishes:
Tiny rust spots on rear arches, stone chips on bonnet, small crack on front bumper, front foglight has broken glass cover.
When I can dig it out, tonnes of service history for the car, literally, loads of it.
Cavalier is in cracking condition, and with barely 300 of this particular model left, they are getting seriously rare.
The engine is the X20XEV Ecotec lump (NOT C20XE REDTOP) which is good for 136bhp as standard.
It may lack the outright power of the Redtop, but it sure as hell is a quieter and smoother sounding engine.
Cavalier is located in Radstock which is near Bath and Bristol (BA3 Postcode)
Price is £425 ono, even happy to entertain taking a banger part exchange against the Cavalier, condition or make or model is unimportant.
More pictures will follow, i've only got one or two at the moment, i'll take better pictures tomorrow.
