This is the first time I've attended the Retro Rides Gathering show. I've been meaning to for the last few years but it always seemed that something would get in the way and stop me from going! Luckily this time everything had gone to plan. It's also my first visit to Prescott hillclimb, a venue that I'll definitely be going to many times in the future, it is a superb place for any motoring event. The Hillclimb covers a huge area with a vast amount of space for all manner of well modified and cool retro cars. The hillclimb itself is simply stunning, set between rows of trees and woodland make it a spectacular place to watch cars of all types get heavily abused on their quest to the summit. The show had a fantastic turnout this year, with a great variety of makes and marks making appearances. All tastes were well and truly catered for, every direction you look is packed full of stunning metal gently shining in the sun. From simple and effective slam and wheels to stripped out engine swapped racers, the Gathering has it all. Everyone at the show is on the same page in terms of modifying, and many see potential in cars that others outside the "scene" would completely ignore! I mean where else would you find a Bosozoku themed Aixam, complete with metre long twin exhaust tips, lairy orange metalflake paint and insane camber? Certainly not at your average show that's for sure. Retro Rides is more of a mindset than the set of rules you seem to encounter in other car modifying scenes, any car can be a show winner and retro legend with the right touch. This year the Area 52 Team unveiled another secret project, in the form of a humble Daihatsu Cuore... Sat low and wide on banded steels and JDM style arch flairs, the little Cuore oozes retro Japanese cool. From the matt black paint (featuring a contrasting gloss black "Area 52" logo) to the heavily stripped interior, the whole package just proves the Retro Rides ethos of every car having the potential to be something so much more. It's certainly been the best show of the year for me, and I'm sure it will remain so next year, long live Retro Rides - cool cars and cooler people. I'm afraid the pictures aren't the best, but better than nothing eh! more here: www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150345591237456.397688.647722455&type=1and here: www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150345699017456.397719.647722455&type=1

Great photos, I was genuinely excited about seeing your Nova in the metal. Seen so many mad photos of it, it was good to see it at the Gathering. Pity I didn't actually meet you, paths never crossed! Oh well next year?

Was a great day(s) out indeed. Thanks for the pic's. I'll try and get some of mine up but most of the track pic's are just blurs so probably not worth it. I need to get used to taking pics of moving cars! Looking forward to next year already!!
