I bought this Alfa in March 2011 to use as my daily driver, its wonderfully quiet and refined with a nice sporty edge. I've enjoyed owning it, but now I've got my retro car on the road I have no need for it.
Basics first...
Model: Alfa Romeo GTV 2.0 Twin Sport
Year: 1996 P reg.
Mileage: 129,400
Tax: End of September 2011
MOT: 12 months (September 2012)
The car is in generally excellent condition and, as is obvious from the photos, looks great after a wash and polish. There is no rust anywhere on the car. The paint work is in generally great condition, though it is now 15+ years old so it does have a few chips and small scuffs here and there.
It starts reliably, idles well and the engine pulls strongly and cleanly throughout the rev range. The steering feels tight and responsive, a previous owner has spent some money on polly bushes and wheel alignment which may play a part in this. The clutch bites at a normal height and the gearbox is smooth and quiet if not the most 'direct' feeling. The brakes feel good and the car pulls up quickly and smoothy without drama.
The interior is the half cloth, with the Alfa logos on which I personally really like. There are a couple of small wear marks on the drivers seat, pictured, but other than that there are no rip tears or noticeable marks. A little wear is showing on the steering wheel and some of the plastics. A Pioneer CD/radio head unit is fitted. The car has electric windows, electric mirrors, electric sunroof, power steering and central locking, all of which works perfectly. The airbag light often stays on, but not always, this is exceedingly common on these GTVs and is often down to a dirty connector.
I've got a decent file of history that came with the car. There's what seems to be fairly complete service history dating back 5 or 6 years, but there is little early history. The good news is that the owners of the last number of years have looked after the car well and spent plenty of money on it!
During my ownership of the car, mostly within the last month, I have done this work on it:
The all important cam belt was done a couple of weeks ago
It's got 2 brand new front tyres
The heater motor resistor has been replaced
I've given it general servicing, i.e. oil and filters.
Some key points of the service history I've got are:
103,000 miles, March 2010
All rear suspension bushes replaced with polly bushes
Front suspension arms and wishbones replaced
Anti roll bar links replaced
4 wheel alignment
96,000 miles, October 2009
Cam belt and variator changed.
Major service
I've done my best to be as honest as possible and I hope that it comes across that this is a good little car that deserves a new home and to be enjoyed for many many more miles yet.
£950 ONO I would consider a p/x for something small and cheap for my girlfriend to learn to drive in, would need to be cash my way though.
