I no longer need my ZX. I've owned it since the start of August, done about 4000 miles and it's been excellent. It's averaged 45mpg despite plenty of hard use (2500miles on rural Scottish roads with lots of passengers and luggage), not broken down once (a first for me), been smooth, comfortable, spacious and bloody useful.
Here's my fuelly page: www.fuelly.com/driver/cinqywinky/zx
Shouldn't be hard to get the average up if it was actually driven on long runs!
Cosmetically it's tatty. It has its fair share of dings and poorly touched-up scratches but there's nothing major and no rust.
The interior is nice, not badly worn for its age but a few marks. Got a few electric bits (front windows, sunroof, passenger side mirror, remote central locking) and nearly everything works - remote fob not working (dead batteries?) but the central locking is fine! Dashboard backlighting can be temperamental too. Non-standard headunit with an aux-in for ipods and the like, standard spare also available. The rear door cards have a double layer of the soundproofing material, and there's also two of the standard soundproofing mats under the rear seats.
Mechanically very good. Engine starts first time, gets up to temperature and stays there, pulls well without smoke. Gearbox is good, no funny noises or jumping out of gear.
Front suspension/steering has started making some noise. Knocking over bumps and a sort of clicking/tapping when accelerating out of a corner. I think this is droplink bushes and CV joints respectively (CV joints are both split from what I can see).
Fuel pump is a Lucas (as far as I know - says Bosch on it but doesn't resembles other Bosch pictures I've seen?)
Good tyres all round (incl spare) - 2 different matched pairs of Goodyears with lots of tread. 5mm spacers behind the front wheels to clear the brakes. Spare steel with unused tyre.
I've got old MOTs and tax discs but no other history. The previous two owners worked in the motor technician dept of a local college, so paid for parts and did/had the work done there. Timing belt was changed at 85k according to a sticker in the engine bay.
It's standard apart from 205 Gti 1.6 wheels.
Overall: good solid workhorse. Cheap to run, reliable, practical. Ready to go with plenty of T&T left and even some fuel in the tank.
I'm looking for£500 £425 £400! Open to offers as I've agreed to buy another car so this needs to go.
worst ding, NSR door
Sorry for it being pretty filthy, it's sat under a tree at the moment and I have no way of cleaning it!
Any more info/pics required, just ask.
Ta,
Richard
Phew, that was longer than expected, apols.
