Further details:
I am selling this on behalf of a friend. He's had it for approx 3 years and until recently had looked after it well. However, a couple of minor incidents have resulted in slight bodywork damage, after which my friend stopped giving this little MR2 the lovin' it deserves.
I'll start with the bodywork. Being red, there is some paint fade. The paintwork is not beyond saving, a good clean and polish should make the car look presentable.
List of significant defects:
1. Impact damage to front offside corner.
2. Impact damage to front nearside corner.
3. Corrosion to base of nearside door.
4. Scuff to nearside door and air intake side panel.
5. Scuff to offside part of the rear bumper.
6. Corrosion to section of offside rear wheel arch.
7. Evidence of previous welding and corrosion to rear ends of both sills.
Alloy wheels need a good clean and polish. Rear tyres are less than six months old. Front tyres look ok to me but are worn along the inner edge.
Electric aerial mast is stuck half way up. Replacement mechanism (second hand but believed to be working) is included.
The interior needs a good clean. The leather seats are ok, with no rips or tears. The steering wheel and gearknob are unworn. The stereo has been removed but the original Toyota tape player is included (currently located in the boot).
All the electrics seem to be working ok, including central locking, electric mirrors and windows.
No evidence of leaks from the T-Bar panels.
I'll move on to the mechanical side of things. The engine starts first time hot or cold. The mileage (97k) is backed up by service history and old MoTs. Cambelt was done a couple of years ago, with receipt to prove. Apexi induction kit fitted. Gearbox works well, with no crunching or whining. Unfortunately the element that connects the two, the clutch, is worn and slipping but the car still drives. Rear nearside wheel bearing is humming. Brakes work fine. Steering (PAS) is ok but front tyres need pumping up. Exhaust is blowing.
The car went for an MoT last week and failed on the following:
1. Loose front number plate (fixed).
2. Damaged front lights (see photos).
3. High emissions, possibly due to fault No 4.
4. Exhaust blowing.
5. Excessive corrosion to section of nearside sill.
This is obviously a project car rather than something that you can drive away and enjoy instantly. With a bit of TLC it could be ready for spring 2012.
Viewing essential. Best to bring a trailer but it could be driven home if you're brave (and stupid enough). Will not break and cannot deliver.
