I needed a car recently while my car was in for mot and I knew this car was available..
It came from an elderly gent who used it around the shops and looked after it mechanically over the years..
I have never seen one around before and whilst it was in tax up until last month it was a great little runabout..
It starts up almost instantly with a little choke and after warmed up it drives very nicely, its got 5 gears and low tax bracket for its engine size..
It is good on fuel and very relaxing to drive, its rear wheel drive and the engine is very easy to get at and there are parts on ebay for it..
The interior is exceptional considering its age....
The sills are solid with no welding.
The tyres are all reasonable with plenty of tread.
There is a new exhaust..This rattles a little at times as I think it needs adjusting a little..
There is a new battery.
Brakes are all good.
There are no cracks in the screen.
The only areas needing attention before its next MOT would be the drivers bottom half of the front wing and the rear tailgate area that could do with attention...See pic..
The previous owner told me that the radio doesnt work, it needs a new rear screen wiper blade and that it has had a small oil leak from the right hand side of the engine for over ten years..
There is also a small weeping from the bottom corner of the rad.
I was stuck on the M5 recently with it and it did not overheat at all..
The car was supplied new from the Oxford TWR Racing dealership in 84 and has a Faded TWR sticker at the rear..
The paint has come up nice on the drivers side but the lacquer has come off or faded in other areas..
Needs a good jetwash.
It would be nice to see the old girl go to a good home hence the above scrap value starting price..
The vehicle has an mot and would get you anywhere.
