But where is al the oil, the grease, the dirt, the tools strewn all over the floor for you to trip overthe pools of water from the leaky roof, the piles of tat, the random mugs you keep promising you'll collect up and rinse out?
I admire them for what they are (rich boys status pads) but give me a proper cold & draughty workshop anyday!

You'll notice an absence of sofas, bars, empty beer bottles and communal areas. These are cathedrals of loneliness. Money can't buy you love!

Imagine what any one of those places would look like after a 'weekender' with the Area 52 guys ;D

Cars & Garages too over sanitized for me. Look like the type of people that would only drive the car to a specialist valeter to get it cleaned.

Major want, imagine if Area 52 was this: You would never leave lol. I think I would....like straight away! Please don't take this the wrong way, but the dark wood, brown walls and polished marble....about as far from my tastes as humanly possible - both for my home or my garage. It looks like the lobby at some cheesy resort trying to look 'traditional' and failing miserably. I genuinely find it repulsive. Sorry! Also, the workshop area, as Matt says, is far too clinical. I'd feel like I'm in some laboratory working under controlled conditions and being monitored by some unknown man in dark glasses hidden behind some mirrored glass and wathing my every move. I've said it a ton of times to the guys at Area 52, if I had to move premises, it genuinely would have to be somewhere 'just like' Area 52 with character, patina and quirks that you simply cannot recreate by any other means other than by old age and lots of use including some neglect along the way. Sanitised workshops are great for big car dealers, or Americans with too much money and too many staff, but not for me. Ever.

It is a bit clinical, was mainly refering to the space, for even more projects/people. Edit, something like this (from the same link) would work nicely, a bay a project lol

lol very nice - but they're just garages, car parking - not workshops like most of us have/want
even if i had money, i would have to have somewhere to work/play as well as park!

I've seen these before, beautiful places.
HOWEVER!
No Lexus SC430 should be placed in a glass garage to admire. It's a horrible looking car! Shame really, as the Soarers that precede it are v.nice.

now don't get me wrong, i wouldnt complain if i had one of those places... but it would be nowhere near as clean as that, and neither would the cars! workshops are for projects, garages are for cars like that

Re the bay idea. I visited the McLaren factory (before they moved to the current building unfortunately) where they were preparing the cars for the next GP it was arranged a a bay (cabinets etc) around the car. I was lucky to visit between GP's and they were building up the cars for the next GP.
This was after the GP (Germany?) when Hakkinen crashed out and had a cry by the side of the track.
