Hi everyone,
This is my baby. She's a '75 MGB GT Factory V8 in "flamenco red". One of only 739 ever built.
I bought the car in april this year. I've been searching for a nice rubber bumpered MGB GT V8 with no sunroof for about 8 years and finally found this one to play with.
I'm the 3rd owner from new. It did about 22k miles in the first two years of it's life and then between '78 and April only covered a further 14k miles. So, it's pretty much as close to a "new" MGB as I was ever going to get.
So far I've not done an awful lot to the car. I've done a lot of menial jobs on the car e.g: rebuilt the seats with new foams and diaphragms, managed to track down and fit one of those really rare parcel shelfs, smoked rear lights, fitted a quick release filler cap, new stainless steel grille with a V8 badge from a Rover P6, fitted a set of chrome air filter cans and some various other shiny bits in the engine bay.
Then I decided I needed to do something a bit more meaningful so I junked the induction system and fitted a webber 500 and offenhauser perform inlet manifold (yes the bonnet still shuts - just!) and I've also fitted a leyland ST front spoiler and a set of Cosmic alloy wheels.
Aesthetically, I'd like to get an MGC bonnet on the car and fit my enderle bug catcher scoop that i've got gathering dust. Other than that, I just want to make her go quicker, so a bigger engine, stronger gearbox and some nitrous is on the cards at some point.
Anyway, enough waffle from me... some pics...
As bought with my other factory V8 (now sold):
New front spoiler and some shiny bits in the engine bay:
Then my lovely other half helped do the carb swap:
and lastly a change of rims...
Cheers,
Jon.
