Remember the 1957 Plymouth Belverdare that was buried in a time capsule in Tulsa, Oklahoma?
Didn't look too promising when hauled out in '07, did it.
Well, information has been very sketchy throughout, but the 'latest' [read 2009!] update from Ultra One, the company that took her on after the unearthing, show that she's not so bad under all that curse word...
After 2 years of treatment with their Safest Rust Remover products, she now looks like this...
They used a pump to cycle a flow of rust remover over each section at a time for hours on end...
Not so bad, huh?
The underside was still pretty rotten, and the chassis is junk but apprently thay have purchased a donor 57, and will be swapping out the minimal amount of parts necessary to get her into driveable condition.
Again, details are still sketchy, but they had yet to tackle the engine and drivetrain, but latest word is that they've mothballed Miss Belvedare due to the economic downturn, and there's no plans to carry out any more work in the near future.
I do hope she eventually manages to make it back on the road.
