really like the shape of the duct...and agree that it needs to be tighter to the car. the way you have it swooping at the lower front of the duct is really nice.

Looks much better in the last shots...can you not make it more 'built into the rear wheel arch' like the cayman or 911 turbo??

I would be rich if i had not spent so much money on Cars and fast women...oh, i did waste some of it as well!

Cheers for the comments guys,
It wasnt the Gto vent i was asking about but i can see now how it seems like i was! But its nice to know its liked as i do plan to keep the gto vents.
I cant really build it into the rear arch as it will be difficult to direct the air where i need it, but i am contemplating moving the whole lot down a few inches so it runs along the top of the sill, if i do this i can also move it forward a little.
Cheers

It's your car and do your thing. It looks like you know what you're doing already. Stylistically I like how you've re-aligned a section of the door to lead into the duct. Just looking at what you've done, I can see you're thinking about what looks 'right'. Aerodynamically, I can't see how it's any worse than zero air feed from the side, even though the side of the car is a low-pressure area (in my simplistic understanding of car aero). From one of those angles the scoop does look a tad too far out, but would seem to catch air and bring it into the engine bay (from my non-aero-engineer stand-point once again). H-D engine : well I don't know much about them, but folks seem to bang on about Imp engines in Ginetta's, so perhaps there's something in what many might think is any odd engine choice I've worked on a few GRP cars, but never come across voids filled with foam. I can see the strength arguement, but when it gets old and damp it must be a pain. I like how you're going about this. Keep it up. Do your thing without whatever the rest of us think. What you're doing looks like it's working so far.

Don't mind me but without the cowl it looks purposeful but with it looks like a wart. Just my 2 cents.

Cheers oh, you mean the NACA style vent that would be on top of the fender, now I see it...boy you will have alot of vents in that area...cant really tell by looking at just that piece...but in general I do like the look of them....not sure about the placement, though..... Like the general shape of the vent but think it could be at least half again clser to the body.

Could you not duct air from under the car over the engine?

Cheers guys,
I didnt get a chance to have another go at the cover today but i will try tomorrow.
mdh,That is what i will probably do if i cant get the side vent to work with the look of the car, i will keep trying because i have always thought it would compliment the shape.
Havent really got any pictures to show todays progress because it didnt really look very interesting. I finished taking the paint off one half of the original rear end, then flipped it over and spent the rest of the day grinding 2kg's out from the inside ready for rebonding.
Cheers

Hi all, Got out on the Dav today, but couldnt face another day of itching so i decided to dismantle the front suspension ready to rebuild it. I have taken apart the drivers side, and taken the drum off the upright as i plan to convert to discs all round. With the wishbone off i decided to attack it with the angle grinder and wire wheel. An hour later and it cleaned up pretty well and its a nice solid wishbone. Tomorrow i might have a go at cutting the seams off and rewelding the wishbone, it should look neater and save a little unsprung weight. I popped the old rubber bushes out and a thought jumped into my mind that a few years ago my father, a self employed toolmaker now retired, decided to knock up a mold to make polyurethane bushes for his morris van project. Remembering there is a box somewhere with poly bushes of different sizes and shores (sp? hardness!) i went for a rummage. Successful in finding the box of bushes i thought the chance of anything fitting was remote but to my suprise they pressed in like a charm, i just needto hunt out our stainless tube now. With the wishbone done i spent the rest of the day huddled over the sand blast cabinate and cleaned up the wishbone brackets, all came up really well and i will probably just give everything a quick coat of satin black for now. After spending most of last night reading through a thread on the imp forum i think i might have changed my mind on the harley engine. Instead i might stick with the imp engine, using the one i have now to get the car up and running and in the meatime build up another 875cc into a 1040cc with a Kawasaki zx7r 16v head fitted, and if I'm going that far it might as well have a supercharger too. Thoughts? Comments appreciated as always, Cheers
