Just wondered if there was somewhere i could ask peoples opinions on the value of an item or a car?
There is the facility availble on Theminiforum and it can be very usefull!
I have no idea what my Kadett is worth and obviously cant put it up for sale with "make me an offer" so its just an idea?

Hmm i suppose that is true, i guess when i go to sell my car ill just overprice it abit and put or offers, atleast that way there is a price up? Or do you think that would be against the rules?

Most people allow a bit of haggling space on their prices, but you'd not have the desired result if you put up a 95 Corsa at 10k or whatever.
The fact that you know how to overprice suggests you know roughly what you'd be looking for? An ebay completed listings search is normally my first port of call for a rough guide on what things have actually been selling for recently.

Ebay auction prices plus ~15% is a good place to start I think. Obviously it's very difficult to value a 'classic' car on photos.

I agree, I am selling my MK3 Polo GT in the near future and don't want to get ripped off.
To me its not worth much but my boyfriend thinks it worth a lot because it is totally original.
I would just like to know what people would offer for it without having to put a price up.
And Ebay is a no no for me.. robbing ****ers.

People who advertise a car/parts and put offers kinda bug me abit, it's not difficult to do some searching on Google etc to suss out the 'ballpark' figure of something. As poG says the value is speculative depending on who's looking to buy, most folk within the scene have an idea on the value of their car/parts as they've probably paid for it at some point (unless inherited). I've sold stuff way under value in the past but that was down to me not doing my homework and finding out a valuation, live & learn. I wouldn't advertise something & expect someone to make an offer that was the going rate for whatever it was. It's the old saying that something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

This works, it's the best way to let the open market find the true value of anything that's even remotely difficult to put a price on. I've been stuffed once or twice selling (not car) stuff using this method but didn't lose enough money not to do it again. If there happens to be more than one person who fancies what you're selling you could actually do pretty well out of it. Even the most rational people lose their minds during the last couple of hours of an eBay auction.

Agreed. That way you find out what it's worth and no harm in sticking a fairly low reserve on 'just in case'.

Ideally, the section will run itself. Posts will be moved there, people have been warned.
I'd rather people didn't post pointlessly...like POG has.
