Hi guys, a friend of mine is putting a carlton engine into a viva but needs a box, he says the one he needs has "7m83" stammped on it, any idea which this is and the best place to get one, either that or a suitable alternative. cheers

Take it it's a 2 litre? Is he bothered about cutting the transmission tunnel?

Presume it's the same RWD 1.8 gearbox that everyone else wants for their XEs ? Could he use the Carlton box ? IIRC bellhousing pattern is the same just much longer.

IIRC only the Manta gearbox fits in the trans tunnel and they're rare and expensive.
