Starting long time stored turbo engine

Hi all, bit of advice please.
Recently ish I bought an XR4i Turbo Technics.Its not been ran for a long time, 4/5 years I think.
Its a single turbo on the right exhaust manifold, with a conecting pipe from the other manifold.That connecting pipe though is totally shot, and will prob transfer basically no gasses from the left bank. Just wondering if starting the car like that will potentially cause damage to the turbo because its not getting enough gass/pressure etc?TBH, its probably knackard anyway, but you never know! ;D
Any other saving tips welcome.

You wont do any damage to the engine or turbo starting it like that, but don't rev it too hard.

How long has it been standing? Dose the engine turn over?

Standing four or five years I think.Engine turns over by hand, Ive sprayed WD down the bores etc.

Take the main ht lead off of the coil, and remove the fuel pump relay. Now you can wind the engine over on the starter a few times to get the engine oil to circulate round the moving parts.

Re-connect the relay and coil lead, and see if she starts.

Is it a good idea to remove the plugs whilst doing that as well?
No compression in the cylinder, spins easier, less pressure on the crank bearings...

Turbos can seize on standing as I found out with one of my spares !
See if you can remove the hose and turn the vanes with a pencil or similar. Also check if any play in bearings. Seals might have hardened and allow oil to be sucked into the intake so don't assume engine knackered if clouds of smoke. MY van does that when rev'd and turbo "on boost but not at tickover.

Yep, just make sure the area round the plugs isnt clagged up with grit and rust, or you'll suck it all in down the bores.
