The retro run is an amazing chance to take your classic or retro car on a run to the legendary Nürburgring for a week with fellow retro and classic car owners. We travel in convoy to Dover and get the ferry to Dunkirk, and then drive down in several small convoys to our campsite next to the Nürburgring where we stay for the week and split our time between spectating and lapping, visiting the local area and drinks and campfire stories. At the end of the week we then convoy back to Dunkirk for our ferry home after an amazing week. For more information check out our website and hang out on the forum: www.retrorun.co.uk Follow our blog by 'liking' our fan page on Facebook: www.facebook.com/retrorunWe will also be making an appearance at this years Retro Rides Gathering !

Bump again. This year seems to be all about the Minis and 205s. Would love to get some old school brits out there with us too. We need some German motors, some Bugs and Busses would be nice, Roccos, Golfs, early Cavaliers again, early Astras et al. Join up guys, it's cheap to sign up to join our run and it's a great way to experience the 'ring! Camping is always a great laugh and you can either chill as much as you like for a week or you can hit the track and get all racey!

A run pack is £30 for a T-shirt, magnetic door plaques, window stickers, £5 towards firewood and £5 to Macmillan. If you add a passenger then it's an extra £20 (T-shirt, firewood and Macmillan).
Ferries are to be booked by yourself (around £60) and camping fees are paid upon arrival. Normally 13 Euros per day but when part of our run it's 11 Euros per day.

Paying for firewood? There us so much wood floating around the ring I would think they would be paying you to take it away!

We really need some more people to sign up this year guys. We're far shorter on numbers than previous years yet we're offering more for runners. If you've got a retro/classic car and want to go to the ring, then this is the way to do it. To sign up with us is £30, for that you get a T-shirt, camping discount, door plaques, window stickers. The camping discount alone is worth 14 euros over the week. Please think about joining us in September, it's a right laugh with a great crowd of people. We'll be at RRG too so you can come meet up with us before the event. Applications close end of May for the Retro Run, please see www.retrorun.co.uk for more details. This year's big change is the Buckmore Park lap that I've paid for. We all get to do a parade lap around there before we set off in convoy to Dover for the ferry. I've even booked a photographer or two to come and video/photo the start of the event as we're going to be magazine featured this year. Any questions about the run, please ask. An example of the kind of cars that come along: Classic minis of all ages Classic beetles MKI and MKII Golfs MKI and MKII Polos MKI and MKII Sciroccos MKI Astras Pug 205s Pug 309s Mazda RX7s Nissan R32s Nissan 200SX E30 beemers MKI Mazda Eunos MKII Supras MKI Cavalliers.... MKI Metro Turbos So far this year, we've got around 15 Minis that will be coming even though only 7 or 8 have already signed up (5 or 6 of which are converted to modern engines, VTECs, Vauxhalls, K-Series), we've got around 5 Pug 205s, we've got a MKII Polo and we've got a Riley Elf hopefully coming too. If you think your car would fit in with that small list of examples, then join up and come along with us! I guarantee you'll have a good time! Age range of the drivers is all the way from 18 to 60 really. Lots of people come, we're a pretty mild-mannered group and the camping is pretty chilled. We just need more of us to guarantee the best pitch in the camp site again this year! It's not a chav-fest at all, it's a similar kind of people to the RRG that I went to for the first time last year. All good fun with a massive race track to hand and some beautiful countryside to convoy around. To be honest, I am not even that bothered about doing laps this year. The countryside and the people is what this run has become all about for me!

This run really is a great way to experience the 'ring. Even if it's not your first time over there it's great to travel in a group like this. We all look after each other, we all have fun and we all chill out together. Just hope the weather is good this year! Be prepared to be a bit cold at night though, it's up in the hills!

Another bump close to the closing time for applications. 1-Kam (mini) 2-The Matt (mini) + passenger 3-Lemmingzappa (205 GTi) 4-Mike174 (mini) + passenger 5-B-Shaw (Polo MKII) 6-Ben H (205 XS) + passenger 7-Ben S (Mini Cooper) 8-Rickmercs (1970 Cooper S) 9-Tahiti Joe (1993 Mini) 10-Stocky (Mini) + passenger 11-Minikidx14 (Nova 5 dr Hatchback or Riley Elf) 12-Ministar (Mini) + cheese 13-AaronD (Mini or Mazda Eunos) 14-Paul (Mini) 15-David (Mini) 16-Andy B and passenger (Mini, lovely clubby) 17-Che and Graham (Mini Cooper) 18-Steve and Karl (miniturbonutter + minikarlos) Beemer 8 series. 19-Reaper (from Bumpstart) another Mini. 20-Stig (car TBC) 21-Jamiestevenbell (mini) + passenger 22- Brookesy (Mini) + passenger (Craig) 23- Benb12 (Mini) 24- Minijosh (MG Maestro) 25- Trig (mk2 Golf gti 16v)
More runners peoples!! We also have around 5 or 6 "tag alongs" that are joining us this year. Non-retros aren't allowed as part of the run, but we aint stopping them from tagging along. Should be a good giggle with 30 odd cars and 40 odd people!
End of May is the deadline to apply for this. I'll take the odd exception ("my dog ate the form" or "it's in the post mate, you should have it already" as per usual).
If you're thinking of going to the ring this year, come with us. It doesn't cost that much to sign up with us, you get a discount on the camping for the week and you'll also be paying towards Macmillan Cancer Support.
We've now got 25 official runners signed up and I'm still getting messages from people that are waiting for this month's payday to sign up.
Come on folks, get on it!
